End of June Harvest and New Plant

Peas and strawberries seem to be done!

I was surprised to see a hummingbird sitting on my fence!  It seems like they are always in motion!

A quart of lovage all dried to use in my winter soups!

My huge blueberry harvest!  Bet you can't top that!  LOL

Another huge blueberry harvest!  I just can't seem to grow blueberries.  My bushes do not grow much.  I think I must not have acidic soil!  We added special dirt to plant them and I was adding coffee grounds until I thought maybe Coco was eating the coffee grounds.  Coco certainly does not need caffeine!  Now I just dump the diluted coffee on them and put the grounds in the compost pile!!

I made two of these runners for July 4th.  One for the kitchen table and one to go on my antique sewing machine.

Harvested my first pepper but something had eaten a little hole in the end!

First zucchini!!!!

I had a 30 percent off coupon and bought this pretty plant!  Of course I could not waste the coupon!!  It is a Baby Breathe I believe.  Summer Sparkles Gypsophila!  I am hoping the Purple Coneflower behind it will bloom soon!

I might be able to beat that blueberry harvest. Maybe. It depends upon how many of the few berries the birds leave for me. It isn't worth netting them since there are so few. My bushes don't grow all that well either. And I mulch them with pine needles and we have acidic soil here in MA. Blueberries grow wild in our state. Why they won't grow in my yard I have no clue, but I keep trying.

Definitely more blueberries than me! I hope to plant some bushes next year, but it will be a long time until I actually harvest any. Congrats on your first zucchini and pepper!

That is so funny about the blueberries - but I'm sure they were mighty sweet! Your zucchini & pepper are lovely. I just love "firsts" in the garden - there are so many all season long & I look forward to each and every one of them!

At least you have blueberries! Ours disappeared last year for some reason but we planted more this year (ergo I ran over them with the tractor :) Our strawberries are done for the year but we had a great harvest from them. As far as cheap plants, we cruised by a big box store (aka Wally World) and picked up said blueberry, raspberry, and a few other plants 50% off. Always frugal and I haven't mowed them over yet! Send some berries our way :)

Hi Daphne, I have three little bushes but the few I get are coming off from the one little bush. If I can keep them living I will keep trying! Nancy

Hi Julie, I am starting to get some things from the garden besides lettuce and peas! I hope your blueberries do better than mine when you plant them! Nancy

Hi Margaret, I did enjoy the blueberries! Wish there were many more! Have to agree that firsts in the gardens are wonderful but so are seconds and thirds, etc.! Nancy

Hi lynn, Your dog could very well be eating your coffee grounds! Coco will eat almost anything if given the chance! I do hope my baby's breath does well! Nancy

Hi Polka Dot Closet, Thanks. Hoping on the Baby's Breath. We are getting terrible winds this year though. Nope. Don't think Coco is eating my blueberries. Had trouble with the birds before but so far not this year. Nancy
