Lunch, Trees & Christmas

We had lunch with Gracie at her school.  Her little friend wears glasses.  Now I understand why Gracie wants to wear those fashion glasses all the time!!!!!!!

Papa had lunch too!

Our chandelier pear tree was so pretty just a few days ago.  The leaves had all fallen off the fruit trees but not this one.

Brrrrr!  The next day after taking that picture it looked like this!  What a difference a day can make.

I have started on making things for my Christmas projects!  This is Peppermint Coffee.

Made my yearly Buckeyes!  They are not so good for the diet but so yummy!  Well, the peanut butter gives protein and they say dark chocolate is good for you so that must count for something!  Wishing everyone a nice Thanksgiving!  We have so much to be thankful for!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you love going to those school things with the grandkids? How special is that-and so funny she wants to wear glasses like her friend. Remember when we all HATED wearing glasses? lol

Those buckeyes look good to me--- a real health food, I'd say! lol xo Diana

Hi Tired Teacher, I got the recipe for the Peppermint Coffee from over at Cheryl's Frugal Corner from her Nov. 11th post. You will have to try it! If you can't find it let me know. Nancy

Hi Cheryl, Glad to hear about the no calories!!! Having lunch with the girls is special now as they will soon grow up and not want their Nana to come eat with them! Nancy

Your Buckeyes look a lot like something I always make, we just call them Peanut butter balls. Do yours call for some Rice Krispies? If so, they are probably the same. They sure are a big hit around here.
I made Shortbread cookies on the weekend but had trouble with my recipe ( never happened before but this year I doubled the recipe so maybe that was the problem?)

Hi Granny Marigold, No, these Buckeyes do not have Rice Krispies in them. Just have butter, peanut butter and powdered sugar. Not fattening at all! LOL Sorry about your Shortbread cookies. I get discouraged sometimes when my recipes don't turn out! Nancy

I love the photo of the snowy tree - it's so pretty when everything is freshly covered in snow. And for sure peanut butter and dark chocolate are good for you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Nancy!

From Fall to Winter in one fell swoop! It should certainly get you into the mood for the upcoming holidays. My mom always makes those yummy peanut butter balls every year. My youngest son who's 23, likes them so much he got the recipe from Grandma and makes his own batch every year. Asking the Lord to bless you and your family as we celebrate Thanksgiving in a few days. :)

What fun with the grandchildren. They will grow up so quick.
Your tree is pretty with Fall leaves and also with snow.
We finally got some cold weather.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Margaret, The tree is so pretty when I am inside looking out!! LOL I think I may have to try to find a bit of will power around the holidays! Hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving Day with your family. Nancy

Hi Gloriade, Thank you for asking the Lord's blessing on us. I hope you will have a very nice Thanksgiving also. That is something that your son makes the peanut butter balls now although we have one son that makes my chocolate chip cookie and roll recipe. Nancy

Hi Nancy, what wonderful photos and special events. I miss visiting the schools on special days and all the excitement of the children. Your candy looks and sounds so good. How about posting your recipe?
Even though we are watching our sugar intake, we are slacking up a bit for the holidays :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
Connie :)

Hi Connie, There are variations of the Buckeye recipe but I use my Mom's. One lb. of peanut butter. I use 18 oz because that is what it comes as. 1/2 lb. butter, One and one half pounds of powdered sugar. Mix by hand and knead into balls. I put in refrig for a bit so the toothpick stays in better when you dunk them in chocolate. Heat over double boiler (hot water) 12 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips and about 1/2 bar of parowax. Place toothpick in balls and dip in choc. mixture. Place on wax paper to cool. I like to eat mine after they have been in the refrigerator! Enjoy! Thanks for visiting!!!! Nancy

Love me some Buckeyes, even though we don't eat sugar any more. Yours look heavenly. How fun to have lunch with your granddaughter at her school. That's something I've never been able to do with my grands, for they live in another state. Have a lovely Thanksgiving, Nancy. xo

Hi Joyful Cottage, Good for you not eating sugar anymore. I am trying to cut down. Do you use honey? We are thankful to live close enough to two of our younger grandchildren to be a part of their lives. I hope your Thanksgiving Day is a good one! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
