Cookies, Bread, Christmas & Seed Catalogs

Christmas roll out cookies baked!  Are you wondering why they are all bells???  It is because I am lazy and it is easier to make them all one kind.  They all get frosted with red frosting too!  They taste the same as if I would have gone to more work!

Four loaves of Cranberry Bread baked.  Here are two of them.  "Wonderful Gardener" loves Cranberry Bread so almost every Christmas I try to make him some.  Coco even ate one of the cranberries.

We use to collect Nativity Scenes until we ran out of room to put them.  Isn't that the way with all collections!  This one is from Aruba.

This Christmas tree I made years ago!!

I won't concentrate on gardening until after Christmas but two seed catalogs have already arrived.  It was so nice today that I went out and weeded a bit.  Wish I would have had energy to do more!  Thankful I could do a bit!

Wow, seed catalogs already!

Hi Tired Teacher, Thank you! So hard not too eat too many sweets! It seems to me that the seed catalogs didn't use to arrive until after Christmas! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

You get Fedco! I tried to sign up to get their catalog in the mail but they just wanted me to download a PDF. For some reason I like a paper catalog and always end up buying more when I have one to browse through. Difficult to browse hundreds or thousands of seed types online or in computer. I just put in an order to Pinetree, but I no longer get Baker Creek's catalog. :(

Hi Leigh, I signed up for Fedco last year and they sent it this year automatically. Because I have a small garden I end up just buying from the stores but would like to order from the catalog to get things you can't find in the store but then the shipping gets to me. Why don't you get Baker Creeks? Nancy

Hey Nancy, Your cookies look pretty! I would be happy to be able to make all bells. Do you make the dough from scratch? I have never been a good cookie maker, but would love to bake some sugar cookies. The cranberry bread looks delicious! I would be happy to give you that apron pattern number. It is Simplicity 1536. It is a very easy pattern to use, but it does tie at the neck.

Those cookie and bread look delicious! I love the idea of baking all kinds of wonderful treats for Christmas, but we don't have a large family so most would get eaten by us! I do manage to do butter tarts and a pie and/or yule log for Christmas Eve, though. Wish we got Fedco and Pinetree catalogues here - Although they do ship to us, they don't mail their catalogue outside the US so I have to be satisfied with browsing their offerings online.

I can see myself making all the same shape of cookies out of laziness. Actually, I'm too lazy to make those any more. The family prefers chocolate-y ones like the,I think you call them Buck eyes? Those kinds anyway. And fudge. Although if the next batch doesn't turm out either then fudge may not appear on the goodie plate any more.

Oh seed catalogs. They lure us with all the colour pics and lovely descriptions of what we could grow. Maybe.

Hi Henny Penny, Yes I do make the sugar dough cookies from scratch. It is not my favorite thing to do!! Thank you for the apron pattern number. I thought when I looked at it that it looked like it just slipped over the head. Will have to take another look! Nancy

Hi Margaret, Thanks! My hubby likes a snack every night so the sweets seem to get eaten. I didn't realize that the catalogs didn't send to Canada. I prefer looking at the paper ones too. Nancy

Hi Granny Marigold, I don't really like making the Christmas cookies but it doesn't seem like Christmas if I don't do one batch! We all like the buckeyes too but I don't seem to get into making the fudge. That would probably be my downfall!!! Nancy

I thought when I saw your biscuits and bread I was looking at my own blog as I did the same and have the same racks.:) You have been very busy too. That roll out recipe is one of the best. I'm not very good at frosting, but would love to see yours when you've done them. Your garden on your header is amazing. Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy new Year to you and your family xx

Hi Jeanette, It is so great to hear from you again. Thank you for the compliments. If I get a chance before they are all eaten I will have to take a picture of them frosted! Hope your back will get better. Nancy

I love Christmas cookies. So do my kids and have taken to baking some of their own when I don't get to the baking as quickly as they are ready to eat them. LOL. It's a lot of work but Christmas preparations are such a joyful part of this time of year. Merry Christmas! :)

Hi Gloriade, Aren't you the lucky one to have kids to help you out with your baking. Yes, I have to agree that Christmas is a wonderful time of year. Enjoy yours!! Nancy

Nancy, your bread looks so good, I can almost smell it, Yum!!! I made cut out cookies, too and only used three different cutters. I probably have thirty or forty, it was fun when our daughter was little and we had all different shapes, but now three was probably more than I'll do next year :)
Our local Mormon church has a weekend where they have a gym filled with nativities, even trees that are all decorated in nativity ornaments, it is quite beautiful and a fun event to walk through.
I am so surprised that you could go out and weed, our ground is pretty much frozen until spring. I've not seen either one of those seed catalogs, I think that I'll look them up and see if I can get on their mailing list. Spring will be here before you know it :)
Merry Christmas, dear sweet friend.
Connie :)

Hi Connie, Thanks!! So nice to hear from you. Doing cut out cookies with your kids is much more fun than doing alone! So many beautiful things about Christmas that will remind us of the real reason for Christmas aren't there! We have had unseasonably warm weather right now. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season! Nancy

Hi Nancy.
Who cares if the cookies are one design and one color - they are still yummy! I made mini loaves of banana nut bread the other for gifts.

I love the nativity. I have a gf who collects as well, and I always try to find her something different.

I haven't received any gardening books yet. I call it garden porn!!! They just make me salivate and want to get everything!

Have a good one.

Hi Cheryl, Banana nut bread sounds good! I need to get some new mini pans. I was surprised to get the gardening books so soon. Maybe we will have an early spring!?!? Enjoy your sweets! Nancy

Hi Nancy, Thanks for stopping by and for all of your get well wishes, they warmed my heart. It feels great to be back among the living , LOL. I'm so happy that you liked my little baby quilt. I used those same embroidery designs on a quilt that I made for one of our granddaughters, I think the little girls are so adorable and have a vintage look to them. I love my little 14 inch lap hoop, it makes it nice to be able to quilt at night while watching TV with Steve :)
Have a bright and beautiful day.
Connie :)
