I e...We have had that happen with our raspberries. I end up using those ones to make jams, etc. I did a bit of research and this is something I found. It sounds like it is probably it.

Elizabeth Wahle, Extension Specialist – Horticulture, Fruits, and Vegetables at the Edwardsville Extension Center, said she has received several calls about blackberry and raspberry fruit problems.

The fruit is usually described as having bleached areas in the fruit or as having hard areas, or areas on the fruit that look dried up. Because of the intense heat and low rainfall recently, all these symptoms are most likely the result of heat damage. The fruit are literally cooking on the plant. Maintaining uniform soil moisture is very important during fruit development in order to help the plant cool itself through evapotranspiration. In addition, overhead sprinklers can be used to cool fruit during hot summer days. This is a common occurrence during the heat of summer, and unfortunately, once the fruit cooks, it can't be uncooked. The fruit is safe to eat, just not as palatable.

All your other produce looks so good. We love fresh dug potatoes. Looks like your grandaughters are enjoying the time at your place.

Have a wonderful evening.

~CherylCherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17434122745045956799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258071793517912248.post-11176459666561208802012-07-30T21:24:13.838-07:002012-07-30T21:24:13.838-07:00I get an occassional raspberry that does that. I have grown mine on the plot this year but I used to grow them at home in old kitchen bins, just drill holes in the bottom. Some people use their old compost bags too. You can also do this to grow new potatoes for christmas (keep in a frost free place).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258071793517912248.post-19323205467147161592012-07-30T11:04:52.679-07:002012-07-30T11:04:52.679-07:00My raspberries do that too.
