Garden, Us and Family!

We are happy to be eating strawberries now from our own patches!

And more strawberries picked another day!

Finally got to harvest some sugar peas!!  Love my sugar peas.

But oh my!!!  What a mess my pea patch is!

I bought this plant this spring.  I love it but the only name the tag said was Osteospermum and I can't find that in my perennial book.  Can anyone tell me another name I should look under for it?

A family get together this week-end!  Son and family from VA, two of our families from here, aunt and uncle, cousins from Michigan.  what a crazy lot!!

We also visited in Michigan and met my brother and sister for lunch!

We celebrated our 54th anniversary which is next week and visited the Heavenly Scent Herb Farm.  I love walking around this place and had visited it about 25 years ago!  I bought a new plant called Snowflake Rose which is a scented geranium.

So many lovely things to look at that it was hard choosing which pictures to post!  I bought this jean skirt for traveling, comfortable but not too flattering!

Dream on!

Oh, how I would like one of these bottle trees!

Wish my hanging baskets looked like these!

Green with envy!!!

Different and so pretty!

"Wonderful gardener" went to this herb farm for me!  Isn't he precious!

Our first "selfie" picture!  It rained off and on so it was a good thing we took our rain jackets.

What do you think?  Would this be a tree trunk?

Another view!

How did they make this??????

Do you think "wonderful gardener" could keep up to the weeding?

I think they use this place for weddings.

Another waterfalls.  I love this statue of the little girl.  Now who wouldn't want to visit this place!!  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!!!

Hi Nancy! Looks like you had a great family re-union! The plant looks like an evening primrose but not sure about the name. What a nice herb garden ya'll visited! The photos are fantastic! Love the 'selfie' of you and the hubs! Summer is such a great time to make memories! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!

Hi Daphne, Couldn't find African Daisy in the index of my two perennial books either. Nancy

Felecia, I looked Evening Primrose up and mine doesn't fit the descriptions. Maybe someone at my garden club will know! Thanks anyway! Nancy

Hi Nancy - Osteospermum is in the sunflower/daisy family (Asteraceae). They are in the "Calenduleae" sub-category of this family. I don't think there is any other "common" name for it, as far as I can tell. And LOVE the strawberries - can't wait until I get to harvest a bowlful at a time instead of just one or two..

Hi Margaret, You may be right but I still can't find a picture of it. It keeps blooming and has kind of a delicate flower. Hope your strawberries start producing well soon! Nancy

One more thing, Nancy...apparently Osteospermum is often treated as an annual - maybe that's why you can't find it in your perennial book?

Nancy ...thanks for sharing your trip with us ... your wonderful family, harvest and beautiful pictures.

I believe your flower is the pink buttercup. They grow wild here in Texas. Some may call them evening Primrose but I have always called them buttercups. As kids, we would get someone to smell it and then press it to their nose and get yellow pollen all over them. Not nice !!!

Looks like you have Pink Evening Primrose or official name OENOTHERA SPECIOSA.

Hi Stoney Acres, Thanks! It does seem good to harvest strawberries and peas but I am sure you are getting a much larger harvest than I!! Nancy

Hi Lisa, Happy to share the herb garden pictures. Love that place! It is in Michigan if you ever get that way! Nancy

Hi Audrey, I don't think the flower is a buttercup. Jenny posted that it is Pink Evening Primrose. I looked it up and I think she is correct. Thanks. Nancy

Hi lynn, I think Jenny is correct in saying it is an Evening primrose (oenothera speciosa} and I think my tag said Siskiyou. Lucky you to receive strawberries from a relatives garden! Nancy

Hi Margaret, I think Jenny has solved my problem. I think it is an Evening Primrose (oenothera speciosa) and I think my tag said Siskijou. Thanks. Nancy

Hi Jenny, I think you hit the nail on the head! I finally found a picture and it looks exactly like that. Evening primrose (oenothera speciosa) and I think my ticket said Siskiyou) Thanks so much! Nancy

Hi Leslie, I didn't see your comment come in but my hubby told me so here I am! Thank you. We have had a lot of rain and I think it is ruining our strawberries! Glad you could visit! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
