June Harvest, Helpers, Color and Friend

I fixed a bag of Pak Choi and a little lettuce for Sue to take home.

Hung more Lovage to dry for soups this winter!

Not having to buy lettuce now is wonderful!!

Dehydrated more apples for my granola.  I had to buy these as I don't have an apple tree!

I have other amazing garden helpers beside "wonderful gardener"!  Here is Sue weeding for me.

And Mike is mowing.  It is very hard to mow in that area as the turns are not wide enough!  Someone didn't plan very well! LOL

The fountain area has a lot of lavender color right now and is looking rather pretty!

I reconnected with a friend from a long time ago when we lived in Michigan.  I had a wonderful time visiting with her and her daughter.

We went for a walk in beautiful relaxing Coffee Creek Preserves.
I love spending time in this area!  Another week flew by!!!!

Lovely harvests. I deal with the grass by not having it in my garden. I can see that mowing would be a pain though. Very tight spaces.

Hi Nancy! The lettuces look yummy! You are fortunate to have them! I just harvested green beans, cucumbers, and a squash. The raspberries are coming in a handful at a time. Love seeing the pretty sites at and near your home! Thanks for sharing!
Blessings from Bama!

I completely agree - not having to buy lettuce is amazing! I pick it every few days & it keeps amazingly well in the fridge. I make my own granola too & that's a great idea, putting dehydrated apples into it...now I just need to get myself a dehydrator (my Christmas list is growing every day!) BTW, I keep my granola in the cupboard - if I add the dehydrated apples, would it have to be refrigerated?

Am most envious of your lettuce too as none of mine came up and this is the time of year we eat lots of salads. How nice you have such helpful 'helpers' and that you got to meet up with an old friend. Beautiful area!

Hi Daphne, Lucky you to have no grass in your garden area! I did not plan ahead! Nancy

Hi Felecia, Thanks! I have lettuce but you have all those other things! Ahead of me! Nancy

Hi Margaret, How do you store you lettuce in the refrig to keep it well? I don't add my apple slices until the night before in my bowl and cut them into small pieces. I imagine you could add them to the mix and they would be okay too. Nancy

Hi Lisa, I am sorry your lettuce did not come up. I would be so disappointed as love my lettuce. My helpers make it possible for us to garden! Nancy

Nancy - I first rinse & dry the lettuce using a salad spinner. I keep the lettuce in one of two different containers - A "celery keeper" (a long Tupperware container with a mesh insert on the bottom so the lettuce doesn't sit in water caused by condensation) or a very large stainless steel bowl. When using the bowl, I line the bottom with one piece of paper towel, layer on the lettuce, then top that with another piece paper towel. Then I cover the top of the bowl with cling film - my lettuce will stay crisp & fresh for several days in the refrigerator this way.

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
