Harvest, Vacation and Coco

I have not been faithful in taking pictures of the produce I have picked but here is a sample including what I harvested today.  I will be glad when the garden work is done for this year but not happy when I don't have anymore veggies and raspberries from our yard!

We were all out of jam and jelly so I made some freezer raspberry jam and threw a few blackberries in with it.  Yummy!  I need to find some smaller freezer containers as we don't eat that much jam at a time.

Coco snitched my only yellow tomato left and ate the whole thing! I was not too happy about that!  She said it was really yummy!

This is the new raised bed "wonderful gardener" made to make my life easier next year!

This beautiful Cleome is growing in one of the cement blocks around the compost pile.  It adds a lot of color to the garden this time of year!

We went on a short vacation to TN.  Stayed overnight in Frankfort, KY one night.  These are the beautiful gardens in front of the governor's mansion.

There was also a beautiful floral clock in Frankfort.

Thoughts turn toward quilting this time of year.  This is just a scrap quilt I am making out of material I had.  Pinning the back and batting to it.  When the garden work slows down what hobby do you like to do???????

Bad Coco! But really if he had left you half the tomato, would you have eaten it? At least you got the raspberries. They look wonderful.

Love the new raised bed! I didn't realize until a few years ago that it was okay to freeze glass jars. So if I don't have time (or the patience) to can my jam, I just freeze it in 125 ml jam jars.

Hi Daphne, You've got a point there! She eats the raspberries too but I get the higher ones! Nancy

Hi Susie, Thanks for your input. If I had been thinking I do have two or three smaller glass jars. Oh, well....... Nancy

What a wonderful raised bed! I'm hoping to get a few more in for next year too but unfortunately, I'm the bed builder in my family & haven't been able to get to it. That quilt looks amazing! In the off season I hope to get all the stuff done that I never get around to during the summer. Right now I have a bunch of furniture in the garage to refinish & the kids rooms need re-organizing. And one of my favourite things to do is planning next years garden of course!

Hi Margaret, I am lucky that my husband will build my raised beds for me. It is scary to think what they might look like if I had to build them!! I don't refinish furniture but I do need to do some cleaning and organizing in the house! Nancy

Hi Nancy! Such a beautiful cleome! And the governor's mansion, awesome! You were very fortunate to travel to these lovely places. Should have come on down here to the Heart of Dixie! How did you like the weather? Was it muggy enough for you? You do have an awesome gardener! Nice raised bed! I am enjoying crafting since the garden quit producing. Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!

Hi Felecia, Thanks! It would have been fun if we could have met! The weather was not muggy when we were there. In fact, rather cool. My garden is almost done but I still need to clean it up. Started doing that today. Nancy

I 'second' your garden philosophy exactly! You will love the raised bed - and your cleome is gorgeous! Looks like you two enjoyed a fun trip to Tennessee. Oh, sewing, definitely, is a hobby I enjoy.... it's hard to stop to go out and garden anymore! Your quilt is lovely. Be sure to show us when it's finished!

Hi Lisa, Thanks. Wish I could sew as well as you do! The quilt is nothing special. Just blocks of material that I had but will do the trick of keeping warm! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
