Monday Harvest Report and Birthday Celebration

Here is my harvest from my little garden for Tuesday.  I missed the cucumber and it got a little larger than what we like them.

On Wednesday I had quite a variety.  Note the deformed patty pan squash!  It looked like three growing together!  Never had that happen before!

The yellow squash really produced on this day.  I have started freezing it.  Read a new way to use it so will try that.  If I don't like it then Coco will be glad to eat it up for me!  "Wonderful Gardener" does not like squash.  He doesn't know what is good!

Friday was another nice little harvest.  One cucumber was a little plump for our liking again!  Nice variety this week to keep us supplied except tomatoes are terrible right now and flopped on growing green peppers this year.

Here is a picture of my first batch of dried parsley ready to go into the jar!  I hope I have developed more patience through doing this!  It is nice and green and I am really pleased with the results.  I have more drying now!

I cut up and froze the green peppers that were given to me.  They will be used in sautees, soups or pizzas this winter.

Melissa's birthday is Tuesday and we celebrated last night.  Mike makes her cake every year.  Of course the "Littles" were so excited and had to help her blow out the candles!  This is all the pictures for this Monday!  Thanks for visiting and I hope that you will come again to visit!

I always manage to "lose" a cucumber or two in the foliage, and bring giants into the house. Luckily I grow Spacemaster and even the huge ones are sweet and crisp. I had one last week that weighed about 1-1/2 pounds, and it was still delicious! At least that's what my husband said, I don't like cucumbers :-)

I don't think I've managed yet to harvest a cuke at the right time yet. They seem to double overnight. Well, maybe next year I'll do better.
Wonderful harvests--love the color-so fresh!

Looks like you had a good squash week. I had a siamese twin acorn squash last year but half didn't make it.
Last week I found a hidden cucumber that was so big and yellow. Never knew it was there.

Thanks Jenny! I think I am getting tired of eating squash! lol Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi Annie's Granny, I will have to check out Spacemaster cuke. I wonder if it will work in my zone 5 like your zone. Worth a try anyway! Thanks for the info! Come again! Nancy

Hi Shawn Ann, Sorry you didn't find your huge cucumber in time! I think I am getting tired of eating squash! Too bad it is not spread out a little more. Thanks for visiting! Nancy

our squash quit a while ago, but I think there may be a plant about to come forth in time for a few Fall ones...what a sweet "Mike" to make his wife a cake...I would just fall out if hubby knew how to do that!!

Hi Kathryn, I will gladly share my squash with you about now! lol Maybe I am bragging but I think all our boys make great husbands and fathers! Hope you'll visit again! Nancy

I swear that cucumbers and zucchini grow almost instantly and it takes super human efforts not to have a few get away from you in size. I have had a few zucchini that are MUCH larger than I really like to harvest them, and I swear I am checking regularly!

I think cucumbers are even worse than zucchini when it comes to hiding in plain sight and growing huge. You have a nice harvest there and your squash looks great even if you are getting tired of them.

Hi kitsapFG, At least it is good to know that I am not the only one that misses picking produce and it gets too large! Misery loves company! Glad you visited and hope you will come again! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
