Before the Frost and Grandkids!

Still getting some veggies on Tuesday! Greens, Chives,  Sugar Peas, Dill, Yellow beans, a few Raspberries, and a little red leaf found in our yard.  God's fall decoration for me!!!!

Kind of skimpy on Wed.!  Bowl greens, one pak choi and three sugar peas.  Enjoyed anyway!

Thursday harvest was somewhat better.  Nearing the end!

We picked quite a few things on Saturday.  Even slightly red tomatoes because cold weather was coming!

We finished canning our thick lumpy applesauce.  24 pints canned and two in the freezer and about 10 pints left from last year.  Should do us for a bit!

We knew cold weather was coming so my "Wonderful Gardener" picked the last of the yellow beans and pulled them out.  Coco is hoping he will throw her one and share!

We went and had lunch with Gracie at her school on Friday!

Do you remember those wonderful days of swinging like this!

Our three VA grandkids had the wonderful experience of touring the Smithsonian and spending a fun night in a motel this past week-end!

This cherry tomato plant is still loaded with green tomatoes so moved it up close to the house.  We had our first frost last night and covered it and a few other things!  Prolonging the season!

The sugar peas grew taller than the lattice.  We covered them last night too!  Hoping for the best!

Your lettuce looks fabulous! It's hard to believe from your photos that you have already had frost, since everything in your yard looks so nice and green. Mmmmm, nice looking cherry pie too!

Your garden is still producing, that is great. Mine is on its last leg. A few beans, jalapenos and lettuce is about it.

I harvested all my Asian Pears and canned them up for the winter and so now my canning season is over. I don't know what I am going to do with myself this fall and winter. I guess our new dog, Buddy, will keep me busy. :)

Hi growitathome! Great that you were able to harvest Asian Pears to can. I am envious. Mine didn't produce anything this year. Your Mom thought maybe you started with planting bigger trees?? Mine were just sticks when we planted them. Hoping for next year! It is wonderful all the things you were able to can this year! Come visit agan! Nancy

The pie looks so delicious!
And what do you mean-remember swinging like that?? This grandma NEVER passes up time on a swing.
:D

Glad you're still getting the veggies in---I'm close to getting home and the neighbors tell me the garden is a blackened mess. Oh well, I knew that---but still love looking at other's veggies!

Oh, now you will have that song stuck in my head all day. Everything looks so good. When we were picking pumpkins my son saw a couple of ripe raspberries. We each had one and it was so good.

Have a wonderful day.

you are such a better gardener than me...i have kinda given up on my little patch except gathering a few jalapenia (SP?) and cayene (SP?) peppers...I have let the okra go and do have herbs still that I can use...47 degrees at night here in eastern NC...one yellow squash had a bloom but I think it has now Petered out...gosh my spelling has gone since I retired...I have started the daily cross word puzzle again to keep my brain ticking!!!

Hi Kathryn, Yep, my spelling has gone downhill too since I don't help the kids spell anymore! The frost got us most things are pulled out now. Still trying to baby along lettuce and sugar peas. I need to get out and try planting lettuce and spinach in the cold frame. The frost got the cherry tomato we brought up near the house even tho we had put a sheet over it. Sure enjoyed the veggies as long as they lasted tho! Thanks for visiting! Come again! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
