We had chickpea sandwiches and homemade applesauce for lunch!
I got the chickpea sandwich recipe from the frugal cooking site
that Vinnie's Veggies has.
The only thing different is that I added one of my canned dilly carrots
chopped up!
I hated to smash the chickpeas up but found if I put them in the mini cusinart
that it worked well. Try this recipe. You will like it! Healthy too!
1 can chickpeas, drained & save a little to add later if needed
2 T Mayo
2 tsp. mustard
1 T onion, finely minced
8 slices of bread
Mash chickpeas till pleasantly lumpy. Mix in rest of ingre.
Use about 1/4 cup mixture per sandwich. 4 servings
I went outdoors today to put my coffee grounds out and clean up the doggie do!
It was so nice out that it made me want to do some weeding! Since I still have a
croupy cough I thought that might not be a good idea. I did take a couple pictures
tho. Here are the daffodils showing up.
I thought this was an unusual looking piece of ice! This is all that is left that looks
like winter but I know winter is not done with us yet!
Even Coco was enjoying some time outdoors!
When I came out to the kitchen Valentine's morning I found this on the table from my romantic creative husband!
He also made the pretty card and brought me a two toned rose the day before.
Valentine's Eve was the night we became engaged 53 years ago. Sounds like a
long time but sure has gone by so quickly!
We were privileged to go to Gracie's Kindergarten Valentine party! What fun
we both had!
She had different colored pencils for boys and girls and had to make sure she got
the right color in the right valentine bag or box! Serious business!
This is my homemade laundry soap. Does anyone else reading my blog make
their own laundry soap?
I am looking through another gardening book. I tell myself "it won't be long"!

Aww, what a sweet hubby you have there! I am interested to hear how your homemade laundry soap does. Never made it myself. How nice for your granddaughter that you got to visit her class. Such a good thing!
I used to make my own laundry soap (or to be more precise mixed ingredients together for a dry powder), but I didn't like it all that much. So I don't do it anymore.
Hi Shawn Ann, I make a concentrate for my laundry soap. I still use Dreft for my whites because I thought they were getting dingy looking but the homemade concentrate works fine on the other wash and saves some money. We are blessed to be able to go to Gracie's parties! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Hi Daphne, I didn't like the dry version of the homemade soap either but this is a concentrate. I use still use Dreft on the whites and this on the other. Works fine for that! If you want to try it I can give you the site I got it from. Thanks for stopping by. Nancy
Very sweet valentine - he's obviously a keeper. :)
Glad you had some time out in the sun and a little pre taste of the spring yet to come.
Hi kitsapFG, Yes, he sure is a keeper! He will do almost anything for me except let me have a few chickens! He puts his foot down there. After a little nice time we got a bit of rain. Thanks for visiting! Nancy
What a great Valentines Day surprise. I do make my own laundry soap. I make a powdered soap as it works better on my daughter's black uniforms.
Have a wonderful evening.

Hi Cheryl, It is nice that I have a thoughtful and creative husband! I think maybe a litle tim spent outdoors today did not help my cold but it sure felt good! Thanks for stopping by! Nancy
What a sweet, loving husband you have! Cute Gracie and how fun for her to have her grandparents with her on a special day. Hope you're feeling better.
What a sweet valentine Nancy! I will try your recipe for sure, because I am trying to limit the meat in my diet. Hope you feel better real soon. I'm with you wanting spring to come and soon!
Hi Lisa, Thank you for your kind comments. I enjoyed the Valentine's party with Gracie so much and now I have bronchitis. So glad I didn't have it then! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Hi nutmeg gardener, I hope you like the chickpea sandwiches. We are not big bean eaters but like this. My husband does make life special! Hope you can visit again! Nancy
How sweet of your husband to do that! I've never made my own soap, but have saved a couple recipes to try one day. Sounds easy & a lot cheaper than buying it.
Debbie :)
Looks like you had a lovely day in the garden, since I am from Florida I thought the ice was a jelly fish LOL! YOur grand daughter is adorable and your husband is a keeper!
Carol
Hi Debbie, Thanks. I do have a good husband! I hope you will let me know if you try the soap someday! Thanks for taking the time to visit! Nancy
Hi The Polka Dot Closet, I have to chuckle at your description of my ice being jelly fish! Your blog of organizing your craft room makes me envious! Thanks for stopping by! Nancy
HI Nancy, I have used chickpeas in a sandwich, but only as a spread. I cool up a big batch and then freeze them in bags and mainly use them for making hummus. I like the idea of them being the main ingredient on a sandwich!
I am glad you found a detergent that you like. I make a liquid laundry soap and like it.
What a fun smiley face to wake up to on Valentine's day.
Hi emilysincerely, I don't use chickpeas much. Think I have used them in the three bean salad maybe so it is nice to find something we like using them. Do you make the liquid laundry soap in the five gallon buckets or the condensed? I haven't tried the five gallon buckets yet. Seems like so much to cope with. Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Nancy, I'm curious about how you make your laundry soap? I've always used liquid as a machine repairman told me once that powdered detergent is harder on machines, he said it.causes more problems. I'm interested in how to make condensed liquid detergent too.
Hi Karen, Happy to share! I found it on this site. http://thewhitesilkpurse.blogspot.com/2010/10/laundry-soap.html Thanks for visiting! Nancy
It is the word varification part. It is not always easy to read the letters, and if you don't get it right people probably just give up and not make a comment. Maybe you should take off that safety part. I don't have one on mine.
Thanks Sue, I know the word verification is hard because I have to try sometimes three times on other peoples! Have to even change my glasses sometimes to see better! Ha. I tried to take it off but it was such a hassle to take care of the comments then that I went back to it. Can you e-mail specific directions how to do it? What a bother I am! Nancy
