When we got home from our vacation I salvaged this asparagus and was able to use some of it! Still picking a little and I was able to harvest a few other things than usual this week.
See this funny piece! I laid it on the ground while cutting some more and turned my head. Coco swiped it and started eating! How many of your dogs like asparagus????
I harvested radishes! 1/2 oz plus two more! One fell out of the bowl and I didn't see it. The other one fell on the floor and Coco grabbed it and ate it quick. How many of your dogs eat radishes?????
I harvested this spinach. Well, it may have had a little swiss chard in it! I forgot I planted swiss chard in one area and thought I planted spinach. Dizzy Lizzy here! This weighed 7 and 5/8 oz. I did pick more greens this week but to tell the truth I have decided it is too much work and time consuming to weigh everything! Or am I just lazy???
I think my lovage needs to be divided! I will have to do that next spring I guess. I cut some and hung it to dry to use in my soups.
It kills me to have to do this but it is the first year for my strawberries plants and they tell me I have to cut the blossoms off this year to make stronger plants!!!
These Iris are a joy to look out the window at. The picture shows just a little more white than they actually have but they do have a little in the middle.
I bought these lovely Boston Ferns on sale to hang on the front porch. I do hope I can keep them looking lovely!
When we arrived home our daughter, Sue, had this beautiful plant for Mother's Day sitting on the front steps to greet me! What a nice welcome home! She had also mowed our front lawn!
Remember the cup/pots from last week? I planted 'Ezawe' Sedum in these two. This cross stitched thyme saying was done a few years ago. I hope you and your gardens stay safe from all these crazy storms! Happy Gardening!
My late dog loved just about anything. She would even eat cabbage. Well the crunchy cabbage ends. She couldn't figure out how to eat a floppy leaf.
Our dogs eat a lot of vegetables. I just canned 6 pints of pickled asparagus this morning. The kids picked spinach and swiss chard and processed them today while I was at work.
The flowers are beautiful. Have a wonderful evening.
Hi Daphne, Your dog eating cabbage is as bad as Coco eating asparagus! But I think it is really funny that she couldn't figure out how to eat the leaves! Thanks for vsiting!! Nancy
Hi Cheryl, It is interesting to find out there are other dogs that love veggies! I have never canned pickled asparagus! Your girls are so wonderful to pick and process things for you! Thanks for stopping by!! Nancy
Vegetables are good for everyone - dogs included! Beautiful asparagus. I bet it was tasty. Your planted up cups look charming.
Your Coco sounds like a sweet rascal! Funny the vegetables she eats.... radishes?! Your harvest photos all looked so lovely and healthy. We're at the in-between stage now with nothing to harvest, just hopefully growing.
Very nice asparagus and greens!
Hi kitsapFG, I am glad that you like the cups. I thought they were so cute. I am really enjoying the asparagus. Hubby doesn't like it so I have it all to myself! Thanks for visiting!! Nancy
Hi Lisa, Yes, I must say Coco is naughty but very loving and sweet so guess that makes up for it! Besides veggies are good for her. If I don't get busy and get some gardening done we will be in the in-between stage too! Hope yours starts producing soon! Nancy
Hi Jenny, Thanks. I am sure enjoying the greens now that they have gotten larger and the asparagus is good while it lasts! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Everything at your house always looks so pretty! I love your irises and ferns. Looks like you are getting lots of yummies from your garden too.
I hope you had a nice day!
P.S. My dogs love strawberries!!
Hi Vicki, Thank you for the compliment. I just don't show all the weeds! lol Coco loves all berries it seems. She eats the berries on the lower branches of the raspberry bushes! At least our dogs know what is healthy!!! Nancy
WHAT?! No!!! I have never taken the buds off my strawberries. If they were not grown from seeds yourself there is no reason to take the flowers off! Most strawberry plants are grown from a mother plant and rooted/cloned. Eat the berries! Or at least do a trial and cut 1/2 the plants and eat the other half to see what is what. I bet that the half that is cut is slightly more vigorous, but more with runners (baby plants)... Good luck!
Your asparagus looks wonderful. So do all the other things you harvested. YUM! I am waiting for the tomatoes to start turning red. There is one that is starting to blush out there. Can't wait for it. Love your ferns too.
Hi Barbie, Welcome to my blog! Thanks for the information. Probably too late this time as have already cut the blossoms off. I read that it made stronger plants by doing that. Come again. Nancy
Hi emilysincerely, I am enjoying the asparagus. I think I read that you could harvest for six weeks and then let it grow. I just finished planting my few tomato plants today! Envious that yours is starting to get red!! thanks for stopping by!!! Nancy
An asparagus eating dog LOL! Oh, I have not had radishes in for ever...I bet they taste great!
Hi Polka Dot Closet, Yes, our dog loves almost any kind of veggie! The radishes are wonderful to have but when it gets to warm they won't grow for me! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Hi Nancy, I'm sure all those veggies in your garden taste so much better than what you get in the grocery store. I love all the veggies you've harvested. Just this morning I pinned an avocado/spinach/strawberry salad recipe that I want to try soon.
Have a lovely weekend!
My dog does eat veggies but only cooked ones, not raw. :) Your garden is doing so beautifully. I am so jealous. We have lots of land but no garden because after so many years I gave up on the deer eating it all up. I just plant a few veggies up near the house now. :)
Hi Julia, Thanks. That salad sounds yummy that you are making! You have a good week-end too! Glad you could visit! Nancy
Hi Lynn, Thanks. Sorry the deer ate your garden! We battle the bunnies but mostly have them beat now. That is different that you dog likes the veggies cooked! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Hi Nancy! The veggies and greens look delicious! And your flowers and ferns are gorgeous! How nice of your daughter to do that for you! I didn't know to do that to my strawberry plants but they seem to have turned out fine! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!
Hi Bama Girl, Thanks! It sure is great being able to eat some things from the garden! Love it! I am still not sure what is the best way for the strawberries. Glad you could visit! Nancy
Hi Nancy ... I would love to garden, but we have a deer problem here too and a garden does not survive. All you veggies look so healthy and yummy ... your dog knows to eat healthy foods. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Audrey, Thanks. Sure am enjoying things from the garden now. Our dog eats healthy but she also eats unhealthy. Ate my hostas to the ground when we had them! Glad you could stop by my blog. Come again. Nancy
