Hot & Humid, Harvest, Tea Time & Arrangement

Only one of my three blueberry bushes have a few blueberries on it so I had to buy some for our freezer!  At $14.95 for 5 pounds I am sure hoping that my bushes will grow and do better at producing berries for me!!  I bought 10 pounds but if the price goes down I want to pick up another 5 pounds!  Blueberries are not only yummy but so good for you!

"Wonderful Gardener" is picking our raspberries every other day now.  As Martha Stewart would say, "That is a good thing!"

My grape cherry and sun gold tomato plants are starting to produce.  Lots of green ones on them yet.  Green ones on the big tomato plants too but no ripe ones!  It has been so hot and humid here that I think I am ripening faster than my crops!!

I dug under my potato plants and came up with these to put in with our roast one day!  Yummy!!!!  Two more cherry tomatoes!

I pulled out all my beets and harvested them for pickled beets!  I don't seem to do well growing beets and am thinking about using that space to try to grow more potatoes next year.

I had enough to can up six pints of pickled beets and a couple little packages in the freezer for me.  "Wonderful Gardener" does not eat beets so all the more for me!

I harvested Basil and put in the dehydrator to dry.  I need to remember to do one more batch.

I was able to harvest only one zucchini so far!  Hopefully more to follow!

My tea drinking gardener friend came over for tea one day!  Always fun to talk about our gardens together!

Do you remember the little teacup/pot that I planted a plant in?  My plant died so Melissa made me a darling little artificial arrangement in it.  Now I don't have to worry about watering it.  Guess I must not have a green thumb after all!!  Have I said it is hot and humid here!!  I loose my enthusiasm for gardening in this kind of weather! How about you????

Yes, I don't like to get out in this heat! And the mosquitoes are terrible after all the rain we have had! That looks like a pretty impressive bowl of beets if you ask me! I haven't picked mine, they are still small. I would love to have a tea party with a gardening friend. How fun!

A great little harvest this week. I've always had a hard time growing beets as well. I just gave up on them. Wow, I know you don't think so but that's a great price for blueberries. In our area they cost $5 a pint!! No blueberries in Utah, they can't take our soil.

Hi Shawn Ann, I thought beets were suppose to get larger. I don't go out to work in the evenings and the mosquitoes have not been bad in the daytime here. Hope yours stop bothering you. Thankful for my tea time friend! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi nutmeg gardener, Maybe I was expecting too much out of my beets or maybe I just don't like to can them! They are so messy and so much work! But then I do love to eat those pickled beets! Glad you could visit! Nancy

Hi Stoney Acres, Thanks! When I see how much others are harvesting now I grow impatient! I think probably the lugs of blueberries are cheaper than buying the little packages at the store. I didn't know you couldn't grow them there. Glad you could visit! Nancy

hi Nancy ... looks like you are doing good with your harvest. I love pickled beets, but have never grown or canned them. Good luck with your blueberries. They are so good and as you say ... good for you.

Oh what wonderful fruits and vegetables you are putting up. Lovely tea time with your friend too!
I loved doing pickled beets back in the 70's and hope I can again when I retire!

Wow, those jars of pickled beets looks fantastic! I love them sliced up on a salad. Holy cow, what are you doing with all those blueberries? Do you can them, freeze them or dehydrate? Your raspberries look amazing! Yum! Have a great day!

Hi Vickie, I freeze the blueberries. We like them in pie or I eat them in yogurt or just eat them! Will pick up more if the price goes down! We are not going to get as many raspberries this year as last I don't think. Thanks for visiting. Come again! Nancy

Hi, Nancy, your pickled beets look delicious! Our beets didn't do so great. We made 1 pint of pickled beets only but really enjoyed them! A tea party with a gardening friend sounds wonderful!

Have a great week!

Hi vicki, Thanks! I haven't tasted the pickled beets yet but hope they are tasty! I am afraid with the hot and dry weather this year that my garden is not too successful! Oh, well, next year!! Thanks for visiting! Nancy
