Indoor Gardening, Cold Frame, Amaryllis & Quilt

This is how my lettuces are growing under the grow lights.  The tray on the right is the first one I planted.  I have been harvesting some of the two trays on the right and using.

The weather was a little milder today so I opened up the cold frame for a bit.  This is what I saw!!

Yummy potato soup in in the crockpot for our meal tonight!  Probably not so healthy but oh so good!!!

I have been working on a lap quilt made up of music materials.  I am so upset with myself as I goofed on the borders so it is not as large as it should be!!

Here is a close up of some of the materials I used in it.

This is the music material I used on the back.

This is a close up of the material on the back.  No craft comes easy for me!!!!!!

I have never had an Amaryllis plant before but was given one for Christmas.  There was another bud on it but graceful me knocked it off!  I wondered if the flowers are suppose to droop like this??

"Wonderful Gardener" gave me this beautiful red rose.  This does win some brownie points for him for all the time he spends on doing his historical videos of Pt. Huron, Michigan.  Between the rose and the Amaryllis the house looks quite cheerful!

Hi lil red hen, Thanks for the encouragement. It does cheer up winter when there are flowers in the house, don't you think? Nancy

Red. So pretty and inviting. Beautiful!

That lettuce looks wonderful. I've thought about growing lettuce under grow lights, but I don't have full spectrum lights. The cool white ones do well for little seedlings, but aren't as good for maturing the plant.

Hi Lisa, Thank you! Nancy

Hi Daphne, I wouldn't be growing lettuce either except I was gifted a nice grow light kit for my birthday! Nancy

Gorgeous quilt! I wish I could do that - maybe someday I'll give one a try.

And your lettuce looks amazing - both inside & out! Looks like you won't be going to the grocery store for your greens any time soon....lucky you!

Hi Nancy ... Happy 2015 ... hope your garden will be the best ever this year. So much fun to have fresh greens when it is still winter.

Love the quilt and no one will know you goofed on the border if you don't tell them.

The quilt is beautiful! I love the music theme. Your lettuce looks awfully good and so does your potato soup. That's always been a favorite of mine.

Hi Leigh, Thanks. Daughter and Daughter-in-law both teach piano lessons so am making another one so they will each have one. Soup was yummy. All gone now! Nanay

Hi Vicki, Thanks! The lettuces seem to be doing better and I am trying to make another quilt like that one! Will soon be gardening time and no time to sew! Nancy

Hi Nancy, your lettuce looks so good; i've never tried grow lights and indoor gardening. Your quilt turned out very nice, it will be wonderful and cozy to cuddle under on your cold winter nights. Thank you so much for the mug rug, it was a very pleasant surprise, you touched my heart :)
Have a lovely week.

Wow...Your lettuce is doing great under the grow lights! I love your quilt what a great idea to do a music theme. I think the size is great unless it was to be made to fit a bed.

Hi Carol, Thanks! No, the quilt is not a bed quilt, just a lap quilt. I don't think I can supply all my lettuce under the grow lights! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
