The lettuce that I had picked out at the store was so expensive!!! I left it there and decided to stretch the greens I had this week. I walked through the snow, cleared the snow and ice off the cold frame and snitched a few spinach and lettuce leaves. Think there is a beet green leaf or two in there also. They are not very big but mixing them with the lettuces grown under the grow-lights in the basement I might be able to get by for a week!
I made "wonderful gardener" a blueberry pie for Valentine's Day! Isn't it the duty of every cook to sample what they make?????
Frosting a valentine cookie together was one of the activities for Grandparent's Day at Gracie's school. We are holding up our cookies. It is hard to see them against the white plate. We frosted with white frosting and then added sprinkles.
I finished up the second lap quilt made out of music materials. First one went to Sue and this one went to Melissa.
Here is a close up of some of the materials I used.
Ho Hum! Another round of snow. I can't see the thermometer on the carrot box again. That way I won't know how cold it is out I guess!!! That way I can dream on about flowers and veggies! I think I do arm chair gardening best of all!

When I read your title, I didn't see the comma between lettuce and pie. I thought a lettuce pie was something I had never heard of before. :> I think the blueberry pis is much nicer.
Don't you love the grandparent's day at school? It is always fun to go and the kids are so thrilled.
Beautiful quilt work!!! Our lettuce has been pretty reasonable lately. I bought some Boston bib lettuce today. I just love the soft, buttery taste of it. xo Diana
Hi Daphne, What a laugh! Lettuce Pie! Hmmm. Wonder what it would taste like! Nancy
Hi NanaDiana, I love going to all the little girls activities! So glad we live close enough to do that. Thanks on the quilt! Nancy
yummy looking pie and cookies nancy! great job on the quilts, too! gracie's a lucky girl:) it snowed all day today here--sigh.
Hi lynn, Thanks! We are lucky to live close enough to go to the little girls activities! Are you as tired of the snow as I am this year! Nancy
Lots more snow! I sure wish we could get a little moisture here in the west!!
Hi Stoney Acres, I sure wish I could send you some of our snow along with some of our cold! Nancy
Lucky you with your fresh greens! I must put a cold frame in place at some point, although I doubt the we would be harvesting anything now - it's -40 with the wind chill! And I would say YES - it is DEFINITELY the duty of the cook to sample!
Hi Margaret, Thankful for a little bit of greens but who wants to wade out in the snow to harvest it!! A cold frame is nice though although mine is not the best. Stay warm there. Nancy
Hi Nancy ... so sorry for your cold and snow again this year. Seems like last year was just as bad for you. We have been lucky with pretty good weather.
Glad you are still getting some greens. The pie looks so good, but how can you tell without tasting it.
The cooks privilege.
Warm hugs,
Audrey Z.
How would one ever know if the pie was tasty enough if it wasn't sampled along the way?! Gorgeous quilt! Love the colors and the music-themed fabric! Your snow is so pretty.
Hi Audrey, Thanks for agreeing with me that it is the cook's privilege to taste the pie! I have to say I am really ready for this snow and cold to be done! Nancy
Hi Lisa, Thanks! The snow is pretty but I am ready to be done with the cold and snow!! Your right that how would I know if the pie was good if I didn't taste!! Nancy
Sampling is the best part of all! Your pie looks delicious. Cute picture of you and Gracie! Sugar cookies with icing are my most favorite cookies of all. :) You are very good at making quilts! We are under a blanket of snow here also. About 10 inches of it and still coming down!
Keep warm
:)Vicki
Hi Vicki, You are so kind with your compliments! Not snowing here right now. Hope it stays away but that is wishful thinking! Nancy
The blueberry pie looks yummy! I hear you on the snow. I'm tired as well of the cold, ice, and snow. It seems like spring is taking its time.

Hi Nancy! I tried to leave a comment the other day, but my internet and blogger wouldn't let me! The snow is so pretty! I know you're tired of it though. Looks like you've been busy! Nice lap quilts!
