Summer has finally arrived!

At last!  Summer like weather and the chives are in bloom!

The first Iris to bloom!  These came from a friend in VA years ago.

New bushes planted!  Green Gem Boxwood.  I hope they do well.  I am trying for the cottage look!

I bought a hummingbird feeder and put it out today.  I saw a tiny hummingbird drinking from it this afternoon.  He has not come back but I am hoping he will and tell all his friends to come.  The feeder is in the sun.  Will that be okay?

Our kids living near us had work day here Saturday.  Here Sue is painting my garden gate.  She also washed my windows.

Melissa is washing the house down.

Cali is weeding around the tree.  She also had a big event this week and graduated from Kindergarten!

Craig and Mike planting the bushes.

Gracie cutting the grass off between the board and the fence.

Grandson Travis digging out some grass for me.  I am so thankful to have all this done!  Thanks for visiting.  I enjoy any comments you might like to write.

Time sure flies!!

Time sure flies once gardening season hits and I haven't had time to write my blog!  I brought ferns from Michigan a long time ago.  They spread and I put a few back by the fence.  Then we dug that area out but there were a few left among the raspberry bushes.  I dug those out this year and decided to put them in a pot in the corner as I really didn't want to get rid of them.  They seem to be doing well there.

I planted a few marigolds in the garden.  Already something has eaten off two or three of them.  A bunny?????

I have toads in my yard.  I think that is a good thing.  This one looked so cute amongst the clover and dandelion.  Today a baby one was in one of my plants on the deck.  I wanted to get a picture of him but was not fast enough.

My flowers around the fountain area was a complete flop last year.  I hope it looks better this year.  When we took out an area to make life easier I plopped the coral bells into here.  Bought three purple sage, three geraniums and some petunias.  Hoping for the best!

I would not be able to garden without this handy dandy gadget to help me up and down!

Radishes from the garden!  I didn't have to buy radishes this week!  Yay!!!!

I moved this Brunnera and wondered if it would live!  Was excited to see it did and bloomed!  Thanks for visiting.  We have had some lovely days lately!

More Plants!

I received more beautiful plants for Mother's Day!  This hanging basket of petunias hangs between the pergola and the deck.

And this beautiful plant sits on the front step.  I think I am one lucky Mom!

This is my thrift store chair that hubby painted up for me to brighten the front porch!  I made up a little pot of impatiens to set on it.

Gracie and Cali gave me this organic green tea.  It has little paper bags so you can make it as strong or as weak as you like.  Nice big cup too that says Best Nana ever!  I enjoy drinking the tea in this cup.

Excuse the messy hose.  I made up these three pots for the deck.

Here is a close up of one of those pots.

Coco didn't forget me on Mother's Day either!  She gave me this beautiful two toned pink rose and some special candy!  Oh, yes, made me a card also!

I have gotten a start on drying chives.  If it ever stops raining long enough I will dry more.  Thanks for visiting.  Happy Gardening and come again!

Plants!!

It is that time of year when I can't resist buying new plants!  This is a beautiful Columbine.

My Sungold tomato plant.  Wanted to be sure I got one!

I love geraniums!  I think these are the same size pots but one is larger than the other.

Those geraniums will go on the chairs by the garden gate.  If the nights get too cold yet I will bring them in the house.

Of course, besides the geraniums I had to buy more plants.

I bought another red geranium to set on the bird bath stand in the garden.   Will have to cut off the hook!  I dug out blackberry roots that came up again and put them in the five gallon pails in the garden area.  They are thornless and read that I am suppose to be able to grow them in pots.  We didn't care much for eating the blackberries but the blackberry jelly was sure good so what have I to lose if I try growing them this way!

I was just about out of my homade bread so had to get busy and bake some.  I got this recipe from my good friend, Carol, a long time ago when she served me some in Pt. Huron, MI. where we use to live.  Thanks Carol for sharing this delicious recipe!
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers!!  I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
