We did up six of these buckets of strawberries. We did not pick them! Too young for that type of work!! Some went in the freezer with sugar for eating or strawberry shortcake and would be good on ice cream! Some went in the dehydrator for putting on my oatmeal in the mornings!

The first blossoms on my sweet pepper turned tan and died. Boo Hoo!! I googled why and there were a number of reasons that could be the reason. Hoping I can coax it to produce!
This pot of beans kept up on the potting bench from Coco looks amazing! Hoping I will be picking lots of beans from it.
Two sun gold tomatoes ripe on the front porch. We ate them in our salads today!
Picked a little chocolate mint and hung to dry. Need to get busy picking herbs and drying them!
My attempt at making pesto with my basil! Is this what it is suppose to look like?!?!?! I spread some on my sandwich and I guess it tasted okay! Happy to have you visit and I hope you enjoyed your stay! Enjoy all your fresh veggies this summer!

Those strawberries look luscious! Are they locally grown? It's strawberry season here too. In fact the local strawberry festival is this weekend. I see you have tomatoes already. I am so impressed by all you have accomplished in your patio garden.
Hi Gloriade, Thank you. Yes, it is strawberry season and almost time for blueberry season! Those were my first tomatoes! Some of my efforts are successful and sometimes not! I guess that is the way with gardening! Nancy
When I've made pesto it has been more runny but yours looks fine. I have found that I'm not as fond of the pesto as I thought I was and DH detests it. I grow Basil on my window sills and use it on my pizza . not cooked. I add it at the table) and I add some to my salads all the time being very careful not to let any fall onto you-know-who's plate.
Goodness you have a lovely garden already! People have just gotten their plants in the ground here. Our season starts so much later than most of the country. The strawberries here have just gotten the flowers on them, so it will be awhile before we get any berries from the plants. I did buy strawberries at the grocery store last week though, and we have strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yum!

Do you do anything before dehydrating your strawberries? Lemon juice or anything? I keep thinking about trying to do strawberries.

Hi Nancy! :) Oh...those strawberries, at first I thought..."she didn't say she had a strawberry FIELD!!!" lol...that would have put me in bed for days if I'd picked that many. I'm still hoping my seeds produce some, but likely if we find a good local farm, we'll buy a big amount for the freezer too. I love the photo of your Wonderful Gardener! :)) Everything looks great and I can't believe how big your Roma is!!! I'm glad Coco hasn't schemed up a way to eat your plants lol! :)
Hi Granny Marigold, I think my pesto should be more runny and finely chopped. Used my blender but will use my little Cuisinart Min Prepper next time and see if I can get it better. I probably won't even ask my husband if he would like to try it at this point! Nancy

Hi Cheryl, No, I did not do anything to dehydrate my strawberries except slice them trying to get them maybe a quarter inch thick. I also don't do anything to my apple slices when I dehydrate either as I don't mind if they are a little tan. I am loving the dehydrated strawberries. Hope you try them! Nancy
Hi Rain, No way could we have picked those strawberries and no way would our little courtyard hold that many plants! LOL Unless my Roma plant falls over (it is leaning) Coco can't reach it as it is in a raised bed. Hope you find those strawberries for your freezer! So yummy in the winter! Nancy
I had never thought to dehydrate strawberries - what a great idea! Can't wait for next year to give that a try. And tomatoes already - wow!

I am so impressed with everything you're growing. And those strawberries! I lost my strawberry plants last year due to heat and drought, but I did make sure to buy some this year for shortcake!
All your plants look so pretty and healthy. I love the pink lilies too. I bought a pack of the pink stargazer lilies at Walmart in early spring, hoping they would bloom this year. They are really growing slow. I may have to just hope for next spring, or summer. Aren't those little sun gold tomatoes sweet and delicious!!

Everything seems to be growing at such a rate in your garden Nancy. How wonderful it all looks. Yes my pesto looks like that too ...perhaps a bit more finely choppped. I've never thought to put dried strawberries in oatmeal, that's a great idea. Your tomatoes and peppers are doing great, sometimes pepper plants might be too small to support fruit so they abort them so I've heard.
Aphids can be terrible, they're making my leaves curl on the tomato plants. I've been squishing the aphids with gloves but they're great at hiding, so I might have to resort to using something.
