Summer has arrived and Gracie, Melissa and Cali are enjoying the pool here. It is a heated pool but still a little chilly yet.
My peas are getting lots of blossoms on them now.
What is wrong with my beans???? They get wrinkly, turn tan and then shrivel up and die!!!!! I am not liking that! I have to grow some beans to freeze for Coco to eat this winter!
A couple of my basil have shriveled up and died also.
I froze a small amount of extra Kale for smoothies. Don't laugh at how little I have because remember, I am just a courtyard gardener! Hoping to have more later this summer.
Roma tomato is doing well so far in the self-watering box.

A flower in bloom on the rosebush under the alcove that I thought wouldn't live!! It has other buds on it too! Hard to believe! Didn't get watered all winter and hardly any sun!
We planted our David Austin climbing rose bush on the other side and it is growing!!!! I am looking forward to having the arbor covered in pink roses! Thank you for your visits and comments! Have a wonderful week of gardening!

About the shrivelling bean plants... there's something called Mosaic virus which might be the problem. I don't think it's a bug that's doing the damage so its probably some bean disease. I sure hope it isn't though.
Everything else seems to be doing very well.

Your beans...I haven't a clue, being a beginner myself. But I have to say my basil is looking sad. That's really the only plant that doesn't seem to want to work at growing! Your peas look great! I can't wait until mine get big like that!!! :) I love how you put everything together on your patio!!! Hurray for summer!!! :)
Every growing season comes with its fair share of successes and failures, be it in the ground or in a courtyard! I'm envious of those pea blossoms - you are much closer to enjoying some delicious peas than I am.
Hi Granny Marigold, Thanks for the suggestion. I did google mosaic disease but not sure if that is what it is. In the meantime I either pulled out the bad plants or cut off the bad leaves so will wait and see now. I also had put the neem on them. Nancy

Hi Margaret, I do hope my peas continue to do well. I pulled some of them out as I had planted so thick and ate them in salads! There is always something to worry about in the garden it seems!! Nancy
The pool loods like fun. How exciting to already be doing some harvesting, even if it's not as much as you would like yet. My beans didn't that the past two years so I didn't even plant nay this year. It was just too disappointment. Hope your weekend was a gr at one.

Nancy, your plants look good to me...except for the wilting bean vines. I know how you feel. My row of beans in the garden is looking weird with curled deformed leaves. I am afraid it is a disease that will kill all the plants. Some of the tomatoes have the same look.:( The girls in the pool are so pretty! I plant small amounts too, with just Poppy and me. I'm mighty proud of any amount that grows and does good. I love your little patio garden.
Hi Henny Penny, Thank you! I pulled or cut off the bad leaves on the beans. No new today but I just did it yesterday so will see. I have no birds, bees or butterflies in my courtyard and wondering if I will have problems with pollination. Nancy

Good Morning Nancy, Your patio garden looks wonderful. Sorry about your beans. I don't know much about beans. Hope they will perk up soon. I just planted some bush beans in an open space in my back flowerbed. Don't know how they will do but nothing ventured, nothing gained. It looks like overall you will have a nice harvest as the summer goes on.

For a courtyard gardener, I'd say you have an amazing garden! Every time you show photos I can't help but be impressed.
Hi Leigh, Thanks! Not sure how much produce I will get out of it this year. No one else in this community grows much except maybe a tomato or two and flowers. I would probably be planting more of it into garden but have to leave room for Coco. Nancy
