It is that time of year again in Northwest Indiana! Coco gets a path shoveled for her to go out to potty. Similar to trudging to the outhouse!
Our courtyard looks like this. Hubby pushed some of the snow off the cold frame but not off the protective cover so you can see how much we got. I know others received lots more than we did.
Another picture of the small raised bed and strawberry bed. Hubby pushed some snow off the one end. I wonder if my strawberries will make it. We have had some bitter cold weather.
Gluten free chicken pot pie tastes really good in the winter. Let's face it, I think it tastes good year round!
I have been sick with the "yuck", cough and cold, so have sewed more. Made a few of these little kleenex covers to carry in one's purse. I don't know how practical they are but they do look girlie!!
These are flannel hankies! I learned about making them from the Bluebirds Are Nesting and Garden Pat blogs. They are soft on the nose when it is sore from a cold! Thank you for visiting and try to stay well!

Your kleenex covers are so pretty.
Your snow is deep!! Those flannel hankies would feel good when you have a cold. It has snowed here all day, but is not so deep because the temperature has stayed at 33 degrees. It still is very pretty.
Hi Nancy! :) I LOVE your girlie Kleenex holders!!! Very cute. And I love the idea of the homemade hankies. We are moving away from paper products slowly but surely. We are using old t-shirts as hankies right now but I want some fancier ones for our noses! Flannel is a great idea! I hope you're feeling better soon. You did get nearly a foot of snow! Coco is so cute...we make little trails in the backyard for Jack, he's the smallest. The other dogs just run like bulls in a china shop through the deeper snow!
Aww I hate it that you feel bad. Hope you get to feeling better quickly.
I shovel pathways for the outdoor kitties as well. They stay warm in the greenhouse, but go out to potty. I wouldn't want to potty in the snow either!!!! LOL
The Kleenex holders are really cute.
Feel better!
You sure did get a good dump of snow! I'm sorry you have a cough. I keep clearing my throat of yuck but so far no other symptoms.
I'm happy to hear about the flannel hankies. I've bought a few really pretty hankies at the thrift store but they are not absorbent enough for my liking.
Hi Elizabethd, Thanks! I am glad you think so! Nancy
Hi Henny Penny, I am hoping my nose will not be as sore using the flannel hankies. I think they will be even nicer once I wash them a few times. Nancy
Hi Rain, I think the flannel hankies will be even nicer once they are washed a few time. I want to make up some paperless towels too when I get to it to be used for water spills or things that aren't yucky. Coco is not too fond of going out in the snow or rain. Nancy
Hi Cheryl, Thanks! I am not a good sick patient! I didn't think about cats needing a path shoveled too. Nancy
Hi Granny Marigold, Thanks! I hope you don't get what I have too. I think you will like flannel hankies. If you have used flannel it will be softer. Mine need to be washed a few times to make them even softer. Nancy
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your kind words! These tissue holders are very cute and I love the idea of flannel hankies.Hopefully you are feeling better now!!! Looks like you have your share of snow too. We are having a snowstorm as I write! xx
Linda
Hope you feel better real soon, Nancy. Your sewing projects are so cute - it looks like you have been very productive on your 15 minutes! Stay warm!
Hi Linda Walker, Thanks! I do love lace and thought it dressed up the tissue holders. The flannel hankies were a necessity since I am feeling miserable with this cold and cough. I enjoy looking at the pretty things on your blog. Thanks for commenting! Nancy
Hi Nancy! You’ve been busy! I just love those little tissue holders. I’ve never thought of using flannel hankies. I don’t know why not, my hubby carries a hanky in his pocket every day. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Dennis has come down with a bad head cold and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not actually the flu. I think he caught it on the plane coming home Saturday. There were a lot of people coughing and sneezing there. Stay warm and stay inside my friend.
Blessings, Betsy
Hi Betsy, Thank you! Even though I don't feel good it is hard not to do something! Hope Dennis does not have the flu and that you don't get it from him. The cough and cold is bad enough. Nancy
I think we've all had the cold at some point this season, it's certainly making the rounds, isn't it? I woke up yet again this morning with a sore throat, uh oh.....
We have a good blanket of snow too - snow is a great insulator against really frigid temps so hopefully your strawberries will be just fine. Those kleenex covers look great - sure beats the zip lock bag I keep in my purse for mine!
Look at all that snow! I'd rather stay inside and eat chicken pot pie too! Love the idea of the flannel hankies. I do like a cloth hankie anyway, but hadn't thought of flannel.
Hi Debbie - Mountain Mama, Started with this yuck last Friday and think I feel worse today. Hubby sick now too. Hope you feel better soon. Where is spring! Nancy
Hi Margaret, Thanks for the encouragement about my strawberries. Sure hope they make it. I am sure you ziplock bag probably works just fine for your kleenex! Nancy
Hi Leigh, I really like the flannel hankie and am giving it a good work out this week. Also saves on paper products! I hope you will try them but hope you don't get sick! Nancy
I wouldnt want to get one of those pretty flannel hankies dirty! Besides..there have been times that I would need a wash machine load of them! I remember my dad always dragging a huge white hankerchief out of his pocket and honking loudly into it! Lol!
Hi Karen, So nice to see your comment! If your nose gets real sore you maybe happy to use a flannel hankie! I am so tired of this "yuck"! Nancy
I hope you are feeling much better . That cough can linger for weeks it seems . Now that’s a bunch of snow ! Wow! You are so crafty . I have some material that i need to do something with . I did sit down yesterday and make one of grands a little neck pillow . Happy weekend . Hugs and blessings , Cindy
Hi Creations By Cindy, Thanks! I think I am a little better. So glad that you could visit. Hope you get to sew some more soon. I bet your grand loved her neck pillow! Nancy
What a good idea to make flannel hankies! I always admire the flannel at the fabric store but I am not sure what to do with it besides jammies. I'll make some hankies!
Stay warm and get well, friend!
Hi Pom Pom, Thanks! Think I am on the mend! I think you will enjoy the flannel hankies. I got the idea from another blog. Nancy
Hi, sweet Nancy! My, what darling little tissue holders! I just love the lace as it adds a lovely touch.
Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog today. Your words were such a blessing to read. Enjoy your week! Hugs to you!
Poor Coco! I hope the snow and ice have melted by now. I like the idea of soft flannel hankies. Our noses definitely need a little pampering when we have a cold.
Hi Stephanie, Thank you! I do love lace! I love all the pretty feminine things that you design and make. Loved hearing you play the piano today too. Take care. Nancy
Hi Gloriade, The snow and ice are pretty well gone by now but suppose to get more. Our weather seems to go up and down. Wish it would stay one way or the other till spring! Your right that our noses need a little extra pampering when we have colds. Try making a few flannel hankies. I think you will like them. Nancy
Hi again, Nancy! Comment all you want since your words bring a smile to my face. As for modcloth.com, I think their sizes are pretty accurate. If the item runs small or large it will usually tell you in the description. I have always purchased clothing items according to my measurements and I have rarely had any sizing issues. Hope that helps and I hope you find something you love. During the last couple of weeks ModCLoth had an extra 30% off their sale items and I confess that I stocked up on dresses and skirts {{smiles}}
Hugs to you!
And just to clarify, I got my things at ModCloth, not ModLily. I assumed you meant ModCloth, but I just visited ModLily and found out it's a clothing site. Their things do indeed look cute, but sadly, I have never ordered from them.
Stephanie, Oh, my! Where is my head! I really like the tunics from ModLily better than ModCloth. I had better pay more attention to which store is which. I may get brave and order one. Thank you!!!! Nancy
I really like the looks of the raised garden beds. Would you mind sharing where you found them? We have a few that are on the ground, but maybe the wildlife would be more apt to leave the beds on legs alone. I think flannel hankies sound soft and nice and wish I'd had some to use a month or two ago! Enjoyed visiting here and I'll be back. ~Cheryl
Hi Cheryl @ TFD, Thank you! We ordered the raised beds at Gardeners Supply online. My dog Coco can't get my veggies on the ones in the raised beds. It is always nice to meet a new blogger! Thank you for visiting! Nancy
I love your little Kleenex covers, so sweet and a lovely idea. We had a similar amount of snow, but it's just about melted off, though I'm sure another is just around the corner.
Hi Nancy. Looks pretty chilly there! Here, too. Winter is quite long in New England. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Loved that you visited. Take care and come back any time. Susan
Hi Rachel, I didn't see your comment for a few days! Glad you could visit. It has turned bitter cold once again here and snow is expected this week-end. I am glad you liked the Kleenex covers. Nancy
Hi Susan, Our daughter's name is Susan also! We had about three warm days and back to bitter cold again and snow coming this week-end. Glad you could visit! Nancy
I love your hankies! I made some similar for myself during a particularly bad allergy season and love them. Of course, people look at me strange because they are made from leftover fabric from baby receiving blankets but they sure do feel good on the nose!
Hi Boyett-Brinkley, Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. I really like the flannel hankies. A lot of people would not think of using them though but they are great! Nancy
