Our front porch chair this year! This is how my friend can tell where my house is!
There are more uses for canes than just walking. Comes in handy for pushing my tomato plants around to get more sun!
My new planter is good for flowers I think but probably not the best for veggies! Some are doing okay.
My strawberry plants are large and green but my berries small and some are a little brown like this and not good. I cut off all the runners and put some mulch around them to hold the berries off the soil as it was sticking to the berries. Does anyone know why a few of them got brown like this and what to do for it? I just planted them last year and cut the flowers off all summer.
Can you see these snow peas? They are doing well growing up the strings in my protective raised bed. I planted more but they have not come up yet. Love them in my salads.
My second planting of beans are blossoming. My first planting is not. I have beaten the sunscald though by covering them with muslin. I think they will start to blossom soon!
Is this pot of basil too full? Should I thin it out?
This is the pot of Heirloom Yellow pole beans. They are doing well. I have a couple more planted in the edge of the protective bed and they are growing but the leaves are a little yellow? Wondering if too much sun or too much water or both??
Three zucchini in this pot. Looks like four but I took the one out. Is three too many. Should I take another out? Opinions please!
I like swiss chard when the leaves are small in my salads. Better get eating this I guess!
All of my carrot seed someone gave me did not come up but some did! What is that other plant that came up? Could that be a nasturtium???? Or what is it????
This is the plant I chose to replace the Asiatic Lily that Coco ate one of them to the ground. There were three together. The lily now lives in my grandson and grand-daughter-in-law's yard!
A few of my small strawberries. They taste really good though!! That brings you up to date on some of my courtyard. Thank you for visiting and double thank you if you leave a comment! Off to nap now!

Everything looks very nice and growing. You must be tending it well. I love that little chair!!!
It all looks good to me. I'm afraid I can't answer any of your questions. It's funny because those are the same questions I usually have.
Hi Cheryl, Thank you! Go to Goodwill and buy a chair and paint it and you will have one just like mine or your design! Have fun! Nancy
Hi Henny Penny, Thank you! I try to google things but sometimes just cannot decide what the answer is! Nancy
Your chair looks lovely Nancy. Just really summery. I think you DO have too many zuchinni in that pot ... I would only have one or two at the most. I do not know what it causing your strawberries to do that ... have you tried to google it? I cannot remember your other questions ... will go back & have another look.
Back again ... yes I would thin that pot of basil a bit I think ... even halve the quantity. I would remove that foreign plant from your carrots even though I do not know what it is. Happy gardening Nancy Xx
Hi Julie, Thank you for the advice. I think I will remove a zucchini or two and also some of the basi since you suggested it. I think I may even be able to use the removed basil for pesto. Thanks for commenting. Have a good week-end. Nancy
Hi Nancy, Your chair is so cute. I may just try to copy it ( IF I find a similar chair).
I think your strawberries may have a fungus of some sort, Have you had a lot of rain lately? It really is too bad when you've put so much work into them. Gardening can be disappointing at times, can't it!
Hi Granny Marigold, Thank you! Your welcome to copy the idea of the chair. Just go to Goodwill or some other thrift store or sometimes people even put them out in their trash. I would not be surprised if the weather didn't have something to do with my strawberry problems. I guess I can't control the weather! Nanccy
Hello Nancy, I really like your chair. It’s HaPpY and I love that. Your garden looks wonderful to me, but of course I have no answers to your gardening questions for you. Enjoy the season.
Blessings,
Betsy
Hi there, I love the chair too. The colors are so pretty. I have a friend that painted all of her kitchen chairs bright colors with stripes and polka dots and stuff. Sounds like you got your plant questions answered. Happy gardening!
Just repeating what others have said...thin out the courgette (zucchini), I think. I believe the other plant in the carrots is a weed.
Love your chair!
Well, google just ate my comment so I'll try again :). The zucchini definitely should be only one per pot. They may seem small when they first germinate but they get HUGE - normally you would space them about 2-3' apart in the ground. I'm not sure what is going on with the strawberry - it could be a fungus/mold issue or perhaps lack of sunlight/air circulation. I would pick off the brown berries and any brown leaves and see how it goes. And LOVE the chair!!
Hi Margaret, Thanks! Appreciate your advice! I need to get out there and thin the zuke or I may never get much and also the basil. Kint of rainy the past couple of days. I have a bad habit of planting too many seeds too close because i think they may not germinate but when they all do hate to pull them out! Have a good week! Nancy
Hi Bee Lady, Thank you! Your friend must have a colorful kitchen! How cheerful and pretty it must look. Nancy
Hi Elizabethd, Thank you for the advice. I will do the thinning tomorrow hopefully Glad you love the chair. Thanks. Nancy
Hi Betsy, I guess I missed answering some of the comments and yours was one of them. Thank you! We are getting rain again so hoping that doesn't cause a problem! Glad you like my Happy Chair! Nancy
What a cute chair!
I'm not sure what to do about your strawberries, but I think you could probably start harvesting that basil.. I love to make pesto and then bruschetta. My mouth is watering now!
Hi Cheri, I cut all the runners off and put a few wood chips down. I think we are getting too much rain. I thinned the basil today and made my first batch of pesto this year! I have never made bruschetta. Have a good week! Nancy
Your front porch chair is so cute! And I love your courtyard container garden. I have no idea about the strawberries, but am glad everything else is doing so well.
I am amazed at how with just a courtyard and everything in pots, you are growing so much. I wish I had your green thumb. I tried growing on the patio at our old house without much luck. As far as our company, they sleep in late and are staying in their motor-home. I was up at 5:30 and by the time they get up, I've got most of my chores none and have had time to blog. It's nice having company that bring their own house, LOL. We are blessed with another septic and waterlines out by the garden beds and then Steve had our electrician put in a RV plug off my Art Barn. I guess you could say we have our own campground, with one space available, LOL.
Life is good here . . . I do wish your energy would return.
Connie :)
Hi Connie, It doesn't seem like I grow much when it comes to veggies but I try. It is so nice when company brings their own bed! We had full hook up for one at our house also and had two or three guests that did that. Had it put in because of when we had our fifth-wheel. Thanks for visiting! Nancy
Hi Leigh, Thanks! I am not sure if things are growing well or not or if I am just impatient! Seems like it takes forever for things to get large enough to eat! Have a good rest of week! Nancy
Loving your chair! YES! Oh everything is looking so good Nancy. I can smell your basil I do believe. I had such a hard time last year with my basil but this year it is actually doing well. I almost purchased one of the towers at Walmart. I have several friends that use them and love them. Hope you have a good day. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Hey Nancy! You have so much going on in your little courtyard! I always have a few bad strawberries too. I try to keep them cleaned up, they're hard to keep up with sometimes though. I think that plant in your carrot pot is a weed. Not naturtium. I just cut a bunch of chard today too!
Hi Nancy :) Oh sorry about the strawberries! The ones you harvested look nice though!! Our basil looks just like yours, I can't seem to eat enough of it to thin it out lol!
Hi Creations by Cindy, Thank you! I think my chair is the only one like it in the community here! I like my tower for flowers but so far you can't grow much greens in them but I am enjoying it. Glad your basil is doing well this year! Nancy
Hi Shawn Ann, It seems that some of my things germinate and grow just a little and then stop growing. I have not figured out why. I googled the leaf of the Morning Glory and so I think maybe that might be a Morning Glory? I did dig it out today and planted it elsewhere. Will see what happens! Nancy
Hi Rain, I am thinking why bother cutting the strawberry flowers off the first year when growing in a raised bed as you have to replace them in three years anyway or so I read. I made a batch of pesto with the bail thinnings. What all do you use yours for when you eat it? Nancy
Oh I love that chair Nancy! When I go home one day I want to do something like that too! I just love all your potted plants, so lovely! xx
