March 22 - Soon will be spring weather!

We had a few nice days but now it is raining.  It is encouraging to see the green of the chives come back from last year and growing!

My cooking thyme made it through the winter!

Unfortunately it looks like the lemon thyme did not make it.

I overwintered a couple geraniums and a few strawberries in our unheated garage in zone 5.

I planted a few radish seeds and a few lettuce seeds.

I accidently cut off a geranium branch and stuck it in water hoping it will grow.  That's about it for this time.  Waiting to do more in nicer weather.  Should be soon.   .......Nancy

I'm happy to see my chives are growing too. I had both regular and garlic chives. So far I don't see any of the garlic ones coming up.
Tomorrow we're supposed to have sunshine and I hope that we do. The weeds are popping up and I better pull them before they set seeds!!
I hope your geranium puts out roots!!!

I'm sure the geranium will grow just fine Nancy. That is how I grow all mine - just break off a bit from the bigger plant & pop in water until it gets a few roots on it, then plant it. Lovely to see the things that have over wintered for you. xx

Hi granny Marigold, I have tried growing garlic chives from seeds twice but no luck! I will buy a plant to get started this year if I can find one.

Hi Julie, I am glad to hear that is how you root your geraniums. Hope mine does well!

I am biting at the bits to get outside and do a little potting and repotting but needless to say it's raining again today. But I do enjoy working with my little plants and veggies. I especially enjoy herbs. Hugs and blessings to you. Cindy

Hi Cindy, Thank you for commenting! I guess we would all enjoy sunny days but need the rain too. So many herbs to grow and enjoy.

Nancy, it must be raining everywhere. Started raining here last night and has been steady all day. I am so ready to get outside and do a little repotting and planting. I have potatoes growing and we are fighting the wet weather to keep them from rotting. If you would send me your email address I will send you a few recipes for bath salts. creationsbycindy@nefcom.net
Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Nancy, it is so good to see you blogging again . . . I truly hope it is a sign that you are feeling better. I'll be interested in how your geranium does. I tried it last fall and mine rotted in the water that I was rotting them in. I know that my Mom used to do geranium all the time. Let me know your secret to success if it works.

Here I am again . . . I just hit your follow button. How did this happen, I thought that I had been following you for years. Did you start a new blog?

Hi Connie, No I have the same blog. Glad you found me. No I am not doing better. I try to do a little at a time. The fresh air is good for me. So far my geranium has no roots. Beginning to doubt it will be successful! One never knows until they try!

It's always good to try things, like overwintering the different thymes. I think of it as you had success with one of them...hurray! I'm looking forward to reading about how your geranium experiment works out - I'm trying to root a coleus I overwintered as well (just starting to write a post about that). Never done it before, but I'm hopeful!

Hi Margaret, I hope you are successful with your coleus. I admire all that gardening that you do!

Hi Nancy, I managed to keep over a few strawberry plants in my laundry room. We will see if they make it once I plant them in the ground.
