Spinach Harvest, Coco, Bee, Stella d Ora, Blackberry, Plants, Galardia

This is my spinach harvest.  I also harvested radishes, pak choi and lettuces.  My spinach was bolting and the radishes are about gone.  I cut all the spinach in one of the containers and plan to plant something else.  Maybe a cucumber.  I sure have enjoyed having spinach in my salads!  I did freeze just a little to try in a quiche.

This is another container of spinach that I had.  I thought maybe I could keep it longer by moving it into the shade but it is still bolting.  This is part of the harvest that I showed plus we are having a little in our salad tonight and mabe will get enough tomorrow for our salads.  I haven't decided what I will replant in this container.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Guess what Coco is doing!!!!!  I had pulled some radishes from this container and left just a few that had not matured.  She discovered them, pulled them out and ate them.  I was thinking about planting a vegetable in here but now know that it would be eaten by a little brown furbaby.  So I guess I will move my lemon balm over into this spot and try to keep it under control.  So far she has not sampled the lemon balm.

A wonderful bee on this flower is working hard for me!

The Stella d Oras are starting to bloom and bring a little sunshine to our yard.

The Blackberry bushes are blooming.  I wonder if I will get enough blackberries to make it worth the pain of the runners spreading!

I had been putting thyme around on the ground to try to keep the cabbage butterflies away but saw one land on a cabbage and a hole in the leaf.  So I laid a piece of thyme right on the top of the cabbage.  Can you see it?  I have not seen a butterfly in the cabbage area since so hoping it will work.

Red and Green Lettuces!  I think it is as pretty as any flowers!

Yippee!  See those pea pods!  The shelling peas should be ready to harvest soon.  The sugar peas should follow shortly after I hope!

My Galardia seems more vibrant this year than it has ever been.  I wonder if it is the extra heat and warm weather that we have had lately.  I am glad that I can still enjoy looking at the gardens even if I can't be out there doing much work right now.  Happy Gardening to everyone!

Oh that is soooo funny your dog ate the radishes! I never heard of a dog doing that before! My Stellas are budding and should bloom this week. I love the taste of the petals (you know the whole plant is edible, right?) My peas are shot, too hot, so waiting for the seeds to dry off then decide what to plant in their place. It's a bit earlier than usual; usually I'm getting the last pickings now and drying off for seed the first couple weeks of June, then the bed is ready for fall crops planted in July....

Hi Nancy! We love spinach here too and can never grow enough. For an easy scramble dish... you might try sauteeing a little garlic in olive oil, add scrambled eggs and cook for a few minutes. Then add spinach leaves torn in small pieces and feta cheese. Cook 'til done... this is delicious! Your pup is adorable! Interesting what they'll eat. Hang in there with your blackberries. They put out new canes the first year, that produces fruit the second year. We used to mow down the new canes and couldn't understand why we weren't getting more berries the successive years!!

Everything looks so good. Our spinach is so far behind. We have only had some radishes so far. How funny that the dog would eat the radishes. Our dog eats corn and peas.

Have a wonderful evening and enjoy the beautiful flowers.

Hi Mary, No, I didn't know that Stella d Oras were edible. Thanks for the info. How do you fix them to eat? My peas are loaded. Can't wait! Picked one tonight but they were small but still tasty. Coco is a character! But she is a cuddler and we will keep her! Hope you will visit again! Nancy

Lisa, Thanks for the idea about cooking the spinach with eggs. When I get some growing again I would like to try that! It is pretty well bolted now. Are you a Master Gardener? Coco is a hoot! They threw the mold away when they made her! lol Come again! Nancy

Hi Sarada, Thanks! Glad you could stop by. I love strolling around and looking at the flowers and veggies, don't you? Hope you come again! Nancy

Hi Cheryl, Our dogs must know what is good for them! Eating our veggies! We don't have any corn but I am sure she would eat the peas if she could get to them! Our spinach has bolted and the seeds I planted later grew just a little and bolted also so no spinach for awhile. I will miss it. Hope you have time to visit again! Nancy

Good Morning Nancy!
I am not a Master Gardener, though have thought about going through the certification process. Just learned (-ing!) a lot through trial and error, observation, reading and asking a lot of questions! You are doing a fine job with your flowers and garden.

Our weather is so hot down here, I have trouble growing spinach so I purchase it in the big containers in the fresh food dept. at Sam's when I can.
Have a good day.

Hi Lisa, If I could only remember one quarter of what I read it would help!! I buy spinach from Walmart or our local store sometimes but would rather grow it myself as I know you would too! I don't have a Sam's membership. Please visit again! Nancy

Hi Kathryn, My spinach pretty well hit the dust so no better than yours now! lol I have had the scale for quite some time but usually just have a small amount and too lazy to weigh it! I wish I would have goten a digital one. Thanks. I love the yarrow too but wish it would bloom until winter! lol Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Everything is doing so well. I am drooling over your fresh spinach. Ours is long gone. Your peas look wonderful. Funny about Coco eating the radishes. I think it is the lily blossom that is edible before it opens. Not 100% on that. It would be worth a look around on the internet to see what you find. Emily

Hi Emily, My spinach has about had it but I am enjoying the other lettuces and pak choi in my salads. Love to know I and go out and pick them from my gardens! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Isn't it fun to see what different stages everyone's gardens are in? We're having a weird cool snap again--48 tonight, after a week of sweltering heat..my stuff is all behind and it will all be fine.

Some of my dogs eat everything vegetable and some will eat none. Same with the cats. sigh...they all march to their own drummer!

All my daylilies are starting to bloom too, so we have the gold de'Oros, the tiger lilies and a bunch of yellow lilies I got from someone...it's gorgeous out there.

Hi Akannie, We are having a cold snap too! But we got some rain which was needed. How many dogs and cats do you have? Seems like our one sure costs a lot for grooming and vet appointments! I never tire of looking out or walking through the pretty flowers! Glad you could visit! Enjoy your gardens! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
