This is our daughter Sue and I. She told me that if I would pose this way that it makes you look slimmer! lol She really spoiled me today and took me clothes shopping and out to lunch. I hate looking for clothes but she was very patient picking things out and bringing different sizes for me to try on!
This is the beautiful hanging basket that Mike and Melissa brought over for me for Mother's Day. I think it is very pretty and will enjoy it sooo much!
We bought this blue watering can. I think it goes nice with my new sign!
After lunch Sue and I went to Home Depot and I bought this Clematis. I am hoping it will grow up the side of the Pergola!
My peas are growing but not fast enough to suit me! I think I should be called the Impatient Gardener!
This Calendula reseeded itself from last year. I think the color is so vibrant!
This is my harvest for today! I think there are a few more out there. I also cut some spinach to take to Sue today and have been eating spinach in my salads every night. I am going out to cut a few asparagus spears to eat tonight too.
I am enjoying this garden book from the library so much! I told my wonderful gardener that the pictures are so pretty that it would make a non-gardener want to garden!!!! Hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful days out in their gardens!
I think you were a little spoiled for Mother's Day...and I approve!
Thanks Melissa! Love my kids and grandkids. Come again! Nancy
what a great day you had! My four-legged kids spend every day with me so every day is special to me! Happy Mother's Day to you.
You will probably also like Four Season Harvest by Elliot Coleman; lots of great ideas!
What a wonderful Mother's Day! You look like your daughter... or is that your daughter looks like you! Either way, sounds like you two had great fun together. LOVE the sign! Perfect place for it too with the blue watering can. Your clematis should have no problem growing up the side of the Pergola. What a pretty color too. To make it easier for ours to climb, Tom attached thin wiring for the clematis to 'grip' to. This was before we had our trellis and just had a big post there. Also, in another post you showed a photo of your garden cart... that I absolutely love too! You've got some great pieces to add to your beautiful garden 'look'.
Hi Emily, Thanks for commenting! I love four legged animals too. I use to get in the pens at the barn and love the calves, and feed the baby lambs bottles! Come again! Nancy
Hi Mary, Thanks for the suggestion! I have gotten The New Organic Four-Season Harvest by Eliot Coleman from our libary before. Is that the same one your talking about? I don't know how you stand the heat in AZ. It is in the 80's here today and seems so hot! Nancy
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the suggestion about the wiring for the Clematis. Do you think it would just grow up the lattice or would we need to put wire there? I think it said I needed to cut it back in the spring. Is that when you cut yours back? It is a dr. ruppel. I have noticed the leaves blow off easily. Not sure about that! The big cart was given to me by a friend. I love it too. Come visit again! Nancy
Hello again! I would think the lattice would be fine. We wanted ours growing up a big, fat beam and the nails and wire were needed (this was before Tom built our lattice/trellis there). Yes, I understand you cut it back in the spring. Mine is @3-4 years old, and this was the first year I cut it back.... and it definitely helped the looks as last year it was getting a little ragged. My friend Lynne, who has the most beautiful clematis around her mailbox, told me she cuts her old growth back @12" each year in February - we're in SC so that tends to be our 'spring' pruning time. (I'll doublecheck that with her) Yours is such a pretty color it'll look pretty on your white latticework. Tom is wanting to build us a similar cart, as one of his upcoming projects. He's been looking for the right antique wheels to get started. You have a very good friend! Have a good day!
Hi Lisa, We are taking your advice and letting it climb up the lattice. Haven't planted it yet as my husband is washing that area and doing a little painting. Probably plant it in the next day or two and hoping it grows! Had tea today with my friend who gave me the cart. Hope you get yours soon! Come again. Nancy
