Little of This & Little of That!

I can't believe that we are eating peaches from our yard!!!  "Wonderful Gardener" is amazed and so am I!  They don't look so good but when I peel and cut them up they are so very tasty!!!  I have more than this now.  We have been eating them right along but I may have to freeze a little container or two!!

Instead of the leaning tower this is our leaning peach tree LIMB!  The main root died but the limb grew out from it.  We will try to straighten it a little with a stake but it is pretty firmly standing!  I am learning how to take care of my peach tree limb and come early spring I will be out there with my organic spray!  I can not put anything around the roots as I have learned from Coco getting sick that she will probably eat it!

My poor sad little sweet cherry tree!  The beetles really demolished the leaves this past year.  I am hoping that it makes it!

March 3lst I started this eggplant from seed that Vinnie's Veggies had given me.  It is in the garden now but only this big.  Do you think it will be large enough to harvest by the time we get our first frost in October?  We got our first frost last year October 8th.  Who knows when it will be this year!  It is in the 90's today and still dry.  I don't know anything about eggplant.  How large has it got to be before I pick it??????

I only took one picture of the harvest this week.  It is trickling in but I think I will have to buy lettuce this week.  Not happy about that!  I have some planted but it won't be ready for quite awhile and it is just too hot yet to plant more.  I couldn't believe how large those two green peppers are on each end.  And here I thought I wouldn't get any peppers from my plants this year!  Oh, impatient me of little faith!!!!

See this big thing on my asparagus!! I think it is a praying mantis.

"THE BOSS!"

A few more strawberries.  I keep saying they are about done but then we get a few more, but now I really do think they are about done.  Sure has been nice!

I accidentally broke a branch off from my cherry tomato plant earlier.  I stuck it in the ground and it grew which is surprising to me!  Now I am harvesting cherry tomatoes from it!  My duty as laundry lady is calling so you all have a wonderful harvest this week!!!

Photography tricks! I thought the praying mantis was a sculpture in the background! :) I am jealous of your strawberry harvest! What kind do you have? I am planning on ordering some this spring...

Nice peppers Nancy! We are out of lettuce now too so I sympathize with you! Your peaches look like a real treat. And that is very cool about the cherry tomato plant!

Peaches!!! Yummy! They look awesome, especially knowing you grew them yourself! I just planted my peach tree last week! I hope your cherry tree makes it! It is pretty late in the season, maybe it will just think it is fall and get ready for next year! Yep, you have a lovely praying mantis! He is a keeper! He does eat all bugs though, good and bad. I would put him where your bad ones are...he he! Those tomato plants sure are resilient aren't they?!

Hi Nancy! I'm envying your harvests! They are so nice! I wished my peaches hadn't rotted on the tree! We had way too much rain! That is a fairy tale eggplant and they don't get very big. I think it will be big enough to harvest before the frost. Enjoy your harvests! Blessings from Bama!

Hi katy, That praying mantis picture does look funny! We planted everbearing Tribune strawberries this spring and cut off the blossoms and now this fall we have harvested quite a few. Love it!!! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

Hi nutmeg gardener, Thanks! I sure hate buying lettuce but it just seems like with the heat and everything I have not kept enough going. I had read that you could do that with the tomato branch I had broke off so thought I would try it! Worked! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

Hi Shawn Ann, Yes, the peaches have been a lovely surprise and treat this year! The praying mantis should have been around to eat all those beetles!!! Hope your peach tree does well! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

Hi Felecia, Thanks for the information on the eggplant. I am sorry your peaches rotted on the tree. Ours was a pleasant surprise this year. We have not had much rain and need it badly. In the 90's today and tomorrow yet! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

Wow you got a great harvest this week, the strawberries are still looking great and how great to be getting cherry tomatoes. I think the "boss" must be doing a great job bossing the gardeners around!

Nancy,
I bet you have been loving having all the fresh grown veggies and fruits this summer. Yum fresh from the garden. Those strawberries look great and I bet they are nice and sweet. Your pup is adorable.

Hi Nancy ... I love homegrown peaches. I have one tree, but never gotten any fruit off it, but the squirrels do. Enjoy seeing all that you harvest. Makes me want to plant a garden ... well, just maybe. Lots of work and too many critters around here.

Hi Kris, Our pup is our little girl and so spoiled! It has been nice to have fruit and veggies even though we have not had an overabundance this year! Especially have enjoyed more fruit this year. Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi Audrey, The peaches have been a real treat this year! I don't want to garden anymore either. Just too hot and dry. Ready to put it to bed! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

Hi lynn, The boss may look sweet but she sure can be a little stinker! That is the first praying mantis that I have seen in our yard this year! Thank you for commenting! Nancy

All your produce looks great and I have had peaches like that too that are perfect inside.

Cozy Thyme Cottage said...

Hi Bernideen, I am thrilled to have tasty peaches of my own even though they don't look good on the outside! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

I am impressed with your harvest(s)! All looks very good. How lucky to be enjoying your very own peaches. I think you and your gardener have a couple of nice green thumbs over there!

Hi Lisa, Thanks! I don't know about green thumbs! Maybe it is determination! LOL Thanks for commenting! Nancy

One of my peach trees lean too. It came as a two branched tree, but the branch was way down near the soil, and I wanted a single trunk. It never really straightened up. But the top part looks nice at least.

Cozy Thyme Cottage said...

Hi Daphne, Hubby went out today to look at it to see if we could possibly straighten it but he didn't think so. Oh, well, as long as it keeps producing peaches from that limb every year!!! Thanks for commenting! Nancy

great shot of the praying mantis. They are great in the garden. I was picking a pear off the neighbors tree and one came along on my hand. I put her back in the tree so she could get on with her work (eating bugs!!!)

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
