Tell me it is not the end of Sept.!!!!

I keep saying the berries are about done and yet we keep getting a few right along!  I am sure not complaining!!!

Coco and I keep competing for the green beans!  So I have been winning now as she has not gotten into them lately.  Perhaps she has Alzheimers and has forgotten that she can climb the fence and get into the garden!  Or perhaps she is worn out from chasing the birds around her domain!

Isn't this a beautiful Chojuro Asian pear on my dwarf tree!!

These are from our Hosui Asian Pear tree.  Not as pretty as the other one but oh, my!  They are so delicious!  My favorite!

I found this dresser drawer in the trash alongside the road.  We brought it home and my "wonderful gardener" drilled some holes in it.  I tried to transplant a few strawberry runners (at least I hope they were runners) into the box.  They don't look exactly like they are flourishing but it has been a few days and some are still green!  Hoping.......hoping........

I planted some lettuces and spinach into my cold frame for later.  The larger lettuce and carrots I had planted earlier.  I have one little corner left.  Maybe a few radishes?  Well, tomorrow is Oct. 1st and I have a lot to do yet before winter arrives!  How bout you?

Stopping by to admire your garden yield, I'm always drooling! Would like to have a bite of that big yellow pear... That looks like a pumpkin, ha, on the blog. This has been an abundant yr for garden things, lucky you! Looks like the leaves are going to be so pretty this yr and are turning already. Wishing I could see you before the snow flies! Miss you lots!

Looks like you had a great week! Those pears are beautiful. I love the re-purposed draw as a garden bed! What a great idea!

I've never had an Asian pear before, but it looks yummy! As do those beautiful berries too. You are doing well with your lettuce. I definitely need a cold frame here!

I know the pears look ugly, but oh they must be delicious. I couldn't believe how wonderful our apples were this year. Even the ugly ones.

Hi Sue, Let's do try to get together! The veggies have not done real well this year but the fruit has! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi Polka Dot Closet, Thanks! Hoping the berries will live in that drawer! I need to be more creative like you! Glad you could visit!! Nancy

Hi nutmeg gardener, Yes, a cold frame does help! I had never eaten an Asian pear before we planted our two trees! Glad you could stop by! Nancy

Hi Daphne, The one Asian pear tree is delicious but the other one is not as tasty but I have to have two for pollination. Thinking about a dwarf apple tree. You seem to have had good luck with them. Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi Nancy! So interesting about the pears! They look delicious! I hope my trees produce more next year! I too, am getting a handful of raspberries here and there! It is such a nice surprise to go out there and eat them right off the vine! Glad you are still getting a few beans! All I can say is I hope next year will be better! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!

Hi Felecia, It has been so great growing so much of our own fruit this year! I hope your trees do well next year. One never knows what to expect from one gardening season to the next! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

I'm with Sue and thought it was a pumpkin at first too!! Your Asian Pears look so good and what a clever idea to 're-purpose' a dresser drawer into a raised bed! You should feel so good about all the things you've harvested this year.

Hi Lisa, Pumpkin, hahaha. Must be because I took such a close up picture! I am thankful for all the veggies and fruit that we have gotten this year. Glad you could visit! Nancy

hi Nancy ... so happy that you are still getting a little from your garden. Have never eaten that kind of pear, but they look good. I have one Meyer lemon on my tree and one orange. Both trees are in pots and will be moved indoor for winter. Doubt that the fruit will mature, but hoping. The lemon tree used to make tons of lemons, but not anymore. Maybe I need to put them in the ground.
Have a great week.

How wonderful to harvest delicious fruit. We have one peach tree but the deer always get them and birds get the cherries. I do have some tomatoes though still ripening on the vine. Hope you are having a wonderful day. :)

nancy, i love the drawer idea! those berries look so good:) i love the cooler fall days, but, i'm not looking forward to winter...and it's coming:(

Hi Audrey, Are the lemons on your lemon tree tasty? My friend has a lemon tree in her house and I think the little lemons are sour. She must have a different kind. Glad that you could visit! Nancy

Hi Lynn @The Vintage Nest, Oh, those nasty deer but they look so pretty! They just better not eat my fruit! I hope you do get some ripe tomatoes. Thanks for visiting! Nancy

Hi lynn, I am certainly not looking forward to winter either! I do hope my strawberries do okay in the drawer. We love our berries! Thanks for visiting! Nancy

It's fall here. We've had "leaf watchers" coming through town lately. It looks like snow could fall out there today, the winds blowing, leaves are falling, and some winter birds are at the feeder... You'd never know it's that time of year by looking at that bowl of berries - Yum!

Cozy Thyme Cottage said...

Hi Becky, I have never heard of leaf watchers but I guess that must be the people that pick up your leaves? Love seeing the birds! Thanks for visiting!! Nancy

Hi emilysincerely, We have been really enjoying the Asian pears. First year they produced! I just hope that "wonderful gardener" got the correct number of holes drilled in the bottom of the dresser drawer and that the strawberries will do well there!! Thanks for visiting!! Nancy

Ha ha... Leaf watchers are what we call the city people that flock to our lake shore town to see the fall leaf colors.

Hi Becky, LOL You got me on that one!! Nancy

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
