I bought 10 pounds of potatoes and made up some twice baked potatoes! Yum! Had some for a meal and stuck some in the freezer. Wish I could say I grew them!
This is a tiny butternut squash I did grow. It was tinier than it looks here I think. I baked it with a boughten one. I have not been very successful in growing squash!
This is my Mom's meat grinder that I inherited. I am so glad to have it as use it to grind up left over chicken, beef or steak to make up sandwiches.
I think I must be the best dressed piano teacher around! One of my students has been making and giving me jewelry. Thank you Jocelyn! I have the sweetest girls taking piano lessons!
I received my Fedco Seed Catalog today. Three guesses what I will be doing!! First two don't count!

Hi Nancy! Hope ya'll are thawing out up there! The butternut squash looks yummy! Oh, I love the meat grinder! How fortunate that you inherited it and still use it! The jewelry is so sweet! That's a great way to use up those potatoes! I can't imagine what you're going to do with that book! Have a great week! Blessings from Bama!
Hi Felecia,
It has been warmer but suppose to get more snow tomorrow night. I wish I had more of the old time tools but I do love my meat grinder and thankful I have it! Nancy
Have fun going though the catalog. I just got my Fedco seeds. Sadly three were on backorder. Which is pretty typical for me since I order so early. Sadly Pinetree canceled one of the things I ordered. Their supplier must have fallen through as I was certainly early enough to get it if it existed. I so wanted to try another quick cabbage.
love your new jewerly and your mom's grinder:) i'm looking through rose catalogs, dreaming of better weather. enjoy your catalog, nancy!
Hi Daphne, I have a Pinetree catalog too that I want to look through. Sorry that one of your items was cancelled from them. It will soon be time to play in the dirt! Nancy
Hi lynn, I am really thankful to have my Mom's meat grinder. It comes in so handy! I love roses too but we just do the hardy ones like the Knockout! I know yours will be beautiful! Nancy
Love twice-baked potatoes. I did those for Christmas. They were so much better baked in the oven than the microwave. Should remember to bake a lot more and put them in the freezer next time.
I know you are anxious to start playing in the dirt. Won't be long.
Blessings,
Audrey Z.
Twice baked potatoes sound delicious!! Love the rubber band bracelet and ring. :)
:)Vicki
Hi Audrey, I think I don't make the twice baked potatoes more often is because they are work to begin with but so nice to have on hand! Nancy
Hi vicki, They are so good! I love to see kids make creative things! Nancy
Oh wow! I didn't realize you are a piano teacher! When I was a little girl I wanted to take lessons so badly! But my parents couldn't afford them until I was about 15 years old; then I took them for one school term, learning enough to play simple hymns. I rarely play anymore; such a shame.
Hi lil red hen, I retired teaching piano but when we stopped going to AZ for the winter I wanted a couple students again. I enjoy teaching. Hymns are one of the hard things to play because of reading four notes at once. You are doing well! Nancy
LOVE twice-baked potatoes and don't know why I never make them?! Such sweet piano students and what fun to be dreaming and planning your garden. Have a great week!
I have never owned or used a meat grinder and have not thought of what to do with it...sausage?? keep us posted...
has the snow gone? we got flurries today...
Hi Lisa, The reason I don't make twice baked potatoes more often is because it is time consuming!! We need to get rid of the snow and warmer weather so that I can garden!! Nancy
Hi Kathryn, The only thing I use my meat grinder for is to grind up left over roast, steak or chicken and make sandwich meat. We really like it that way and it is healthier than store bought sandwich meat. Snow is not gone! Boo Hoo! Still getting more flurries! Nancy
Oh, seed catalogs. We have received one so far. We buy most of our seeds in bulk at a seed store near us.
How do you use the ground up meat? I have a meat grinder like that.
Have a wonderful evening.
~Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, I usually buy my seeds at the store too as just have a small yard but it is fun to look at the catalogs. I grind up and cooked chicken or steak or roast left from out meal and add mayo, mustard and seasonings, etc. and we use it on sandwiches. Nancy
Love that meat grinder! Stay warm!
Hugs,
Patti
Hi Nancy, Have fun looking through your seed catalog and dreaming of spring and getting your fingers into the warm spring soil.
Winter can't last forever, LOL
Keep smiling,
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Hi Ivy and Elephants, I really love the meat grinder too!! Sometimes the old tools are best! Nancy
Hi Connie, This winter does seem like it will last forever but I know spring will be coming! Nancy
Always love to see some one working on a traditional meat. :) I have noticed many time, these machine produce fine grind than the one coming now a days.
