Still got a couple things from the garden this week to harvest! That is lemon verbena on the right to dry.
Bread baked again and a few more raspberries gathered!
A couple more strawberries! I don't like to waste anything!
After our applesauce was canned we bought another half bushel of Delicious apples and have been dehydrating them. My "wonderful gardener" has been helping me and what a big help he is!!
Do you read the Jan Karon books?? I checked this out from the library and read it. It is her latest one.
The "littles" love to feed Coco. Here they are giving her cut up carrots! Is she spoiled or not. She only has to be in the kennel when she is too excited or someone comes that doesn't care for dogs. Mike and Melissa have a student living with them from Kuwait who is attending Valparaiso University that is afraid of dogs so she was put in her kennel. I am hoping after being around Coco enough that he will get over that fear.
Gracie is reading to Cali. She is in second grade now and I am so proud at how well she can read!!!!
Lucky you having such an awesome helper - we could all use that once in a while! And every little bit helps, when it comes to enjoying the harvest. I have harvested exactly 3 strawberries this fall & savoured every single one.
That is amazing you are still picking from your garden! I am waiting to pick broccoli and cabbage and hoping the cold doesn't get them. :) I have been making water kefir for about 3 months now. It is pretty easy. You just dissolve 1/4 cup sugar(I use turbinado)in a quart of water, add your kefir grains, and let it sit at room temperature for 48 hours.
Hi Margaret, I sure do appreciate my husband's help! Our strawberries keep straggling in. I don't know for how much longer though! Nancy
Hi Vicki, Thanks for the recipe. Is this suppose to be good for you? Where do you buy your kefir grains? Nancy
I've been buying a lot of apples too. I've got 38 jars canned already but they keep disappearing. If my husband wouldn't eat them so fast I'd have a lot more. I just can't keep up with how much he likes to eat it all.
You sure do keep busy! Yes, we would save lots of work if only we didn't have to eat! And homade is the best! Nancy
Hi Nancy! Wow! Fall strawberries! What a treat! And yes, you are very fortunate to have a good helper! I love apples and am trying to figure out how to prepare the peck on my counter-top. You've given me an idea to dehydrate them! Thanks! I just need to get busy doing it. Nice to see the 'littles' getting along so well! Coco didn't mind to be in the kennel since she got treats! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!
Hi Felecia, Glad I gave you an idea on how to use your apples! Hope they turn out well and that you like them! Nancy
Hi, Nancy! Water kefir is supposed to be super good for you. It is especially good for your gut because it is full of probiotics. I am especially hoping it will help with my husband's kidney stones and my daughter's aspergers. You can buy them here http://www.culturesforhealth.com/starter-cultures/kefir-cultures.html They sell milk kefir grains and water kefir grains. I chose water kefir mainly because milk is so expensive that I don't buy it very often. We do eat cheese though. I also did not order my grains from there. I bought from someone on ebay who was selling hers for around $5.
Hi Vickie, Thanks for sharing that information! I do hope it helps your husband and daughter. I know probiotics are suppose to be good for us! I have started taking some. Nancy
