Changes!!!

It is the time in our life when we have to downsize things to do in our backyard!  If I had energy and time I would have the whole back yard planted to veggies, herbs, flowers and fruit but I don't!  So the rose bush circle was one of the things that came out and grass seed planted.  Sue's friend and her son came over and took three of our rose bushes for her yard and helped us for awhile.  We appreciated their help!

Here is Sue hard at work digging out the flowers behind the house.  Took out part of the sidewalk also.  Grass seed planted.

Mike is working at putting in a divider where the sidewalk and flower bed ends now.

Here is our supervisor hard at work overseeing everything!  He does have an excuse as he has neuropathy and a pinched nerve.  Besides every job needs a boss!

Craig is taking some junk out in the wheelbarrow.  Looks like we have another boss on the deck but she was put to work also!

Melissa and Gracie are weeding around the peach tree.  I think I may lose my peach tree.  She found some gold gelatin type stuff at the base.  Could that be the peach tree borer??  What should I do?????

Cali is weeding around the dwarf sweet cherry tree!

The bird bath was moved over into the corner of the veggie garden by the dinner bell.  I hope to put some plants in it.

The water barrel was brought out.  This is the rose circle seeded with the grass seed.  I hope all these areas that were seeded will grow grass soon as I have to put Coco on a leash to take her out or she plods through them leaving her footprints and the dirt on her paws!  We are use to just opening the door and letting her in the back yard because we have a fence.

Sue took one of the bird houses home and one was not good enough to keep.  This one was put out in the raspberry/flower bed section .  It is white and when we replace the bird house with a new one it will be some color so that it shows up better against the white fence.

Another view of the bird house but also this shows the area left for my veggies, flowers and herbs.  I have another 4x4 box I planted new strawberries in just recently.  We sure do appreciate all our kids did for us to help with this!!

I am working at decluttering inside also.  I have a service for six set of Noritake China that I can count on one hand the number of times I have used them.  I just do not entertain fancy when I have someone over so it is going to Elizabeth when they come to visit this summer!  Well, that is the changes so far and here's hoping I can keep up to the rest!

Spring!

We are having a hard time keeping up these days due to Bob's pinched nerve.  I am getting things done little by little.  I planted a row of mixed lettuces in the cold frame this week!

The chives are up!  That is a sure sign of spring!

I think these bushes have grown too large and they aren't the kind we can trim back now.  I think they should be replaced!  What do you think???  I thought maybe replace with three of those big hostas.  What would your suggestions be??????

I finally finished this lap quilt!  I flipped up one corner so that you could see the back.

Weather, Runner & Dogs

One fine day the weather was this!  Actually we had a couple days like this!

And......I was out weeding!  It felt so good to be outdoors!

And......then this!  I was out shoveling!  Didn't feel so good being outdoors!

I was finally able to finish the binding on one of the table runners and I have been doing some knitting.

Bob has a pinched nerve so can't do anything except mostly reading and computer work.  Sure miss his help!   Sophia came to stay a couple nights.  Do you think she is thinking that he should put that book down and pay attention to her!!!!!

You are probably wondering what these are!!  LOL  I have faith that eventually I will be able to plant carrots and these are my carrot tapes I made.  I glued carrot seeds a certain distance apart so that I don't have to thin carrots when they come up.  I will lay them down in the carrot box, sprinkle a little dirt, and water a little.   Hopefully they will come up!

Coco will be all rested up so that when the vegetables grow she can help pick!  What are you keeping busy at this winter?

Misc. and etc.

Saw my first robins February 11th!  There were four of them sitting in the Chandelier Pear tree by the deck!  Spring will soon be here!

The thermometer was registering 30 degrees that day.  The sun was shining on it.  We have had a few really cold days but it is suppose to warm up the end of next week.  Better days ahead!

Coco went to visit the groomer.  It is not her favorite thing to do, and I don't think she is very enthused about how clean and nice she looks.

Mom put this silly sweater on me.  It is more bother than what it is worth and her enthusiasm for putting it on me didn't last long!  If it is cold out I do my business and don't dawdle!   I do look kind of cute in it though....... don't you think!

I made zucchini bread again!   Will be making more of this as have more grated zucchini in the freezer from the garden.   "Wonderful Gardener"  doesn't seem to get tired of it.  Not yet anyway!

I like muffins for breakfast with some peanut spread on them so made these up today.

My "helper" has a pinched nerve so isn't doing much these days.  Boy, I sure do miss his help too!
Happy Valentines Day tomorrow to everyone!
We were engaged 56 years ago today.  Time sure flies by!

I made chicken pot pie.  Yum.  One of my favorite meals!

Cranberry bread, one of Bob's favorites!  I had enough cranberries in the freezer to make this batch.  That's all now until next Christmas!!

Baked bread one day.  It has some wholewheat flour and some white flour in it.

I am using up yarn and replenishing my dish cloth supply.

Don't you just love this banner a blogger friend sent me to use for Valentine's Day!  I don't get things made like this and just love it.  She is very creative and talented!  Do you decorate for Valentine's Day??

These Christmas runners were cut out before Christmas so I am trying to get them finished up.  I have to do the batting, backing, binding, and machine quilt them yet.  Never too early to start getting ready for next Christmas!

What I am doing!!

I have been trying to machine quilt a lap quilt!

I wanted a change so put the sheer curtains up instead of the country valance.  Hung my little hearts on them.

This is the arrangement in the living room that Bob made of ships that I enjoy looking at.  They are post cards.

I finished knitting this neck scarf.  It is too bulky for me but nice and warm for walking in the cold!

I have been enjoying listening to music from Pandora.

I have new artwork to cheer up my refrigerator made by my little artists Gracie and Cali!

Enjoying a beautiful peach colored rose that brightens up my kitchen from Bob!  So what have you been up too???

Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Nativity Set!  We use to collect nativity sets but ran out of room to put them.  Couldn't resist buying another one!  "Wonderful Gardener" liked this one and it was on sale!  What can I say!!!!  It is from Frankenmuth, Michigan, a German tourist town.

Here is another set we bought years ago in Mexico.

Found the old sled so it sits by the front door to cheer things up a bit!

Sophia has come to visit again while her mommy goes to visit the grandchildren.  Sophia's mama's birthday is Christmas Day.  Happy birthday to Dianne!!!

Here is Jesus birthday cake!  Two candles for Gracie and Cali to blow out.   Remembering the Reason for the Season!  Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Progress in the Courtyard!

It was so nice to look out my bedroom window this morning and see the Clematis blooming instead of a pile of snow.  It is a rainy day agai...
